Some pretty interesting numbers. The 40 ET is the laser timed 40 yard dash. Bryant looks like he will be a monster.

Love Bryant's potential. He is sometimes the forgotten man at safety, but I could easily see him starting by the end of the year.

He was a do it all guy and would have been a 4* if he'd come out of Memphis.

That looks like a 4.5 flat from Fred Brown as well. The times for Beniquez and Ryan Brown seem slow, though.

It's gotta be Coman and Bryant at safety and work Peters in as the year goes on.

Just realized we have a lot of people named Brown on our football team. Three of the starting front seven are Browns.

Brandon has all the physical abilities in the world just had to get more comfortable with reads & coverages. That's the scary part about having Freshmen as the last line of defense they're going to make mistakes. Just have to be willing to work through them bc their talent is undeniable.

Playing linebacker is a lot more about what angle you take then straight line speed. P. Willis wasn't grew because of his speed. He was great because of the angles he took when in pursuit.

But a lack of speed can hamper you. Willis ran a 4.51 at the Combine, so I'm not sure why you're using him.

I'm not complaining or being critical; we all saw Beniquez be a beast on the field for us, so his speed is just fine. It just surprised me and could hurt his draft prospects.

Willis was just who was on my head, I knew he ran a good time. Just was thinking of a backer who took great angles.

His speed will probably drop him a round or so, but a team that watches film and works (the Pats for example) will get a late round steal out of him. He will make money based off what he does pre-snap then after the snap.

Didn't mean to sound like I thought you were complaining or anything. Just had the whole pursuit thing on my mind.

I was shocked at Beni's 40 time. He's much faster than that with pads on. Football speed vs track speed. We'll see if Bryant's 4.37 translates. He didn't exactly stand out in the spring.

I agree. And from what I understand, having good technique can play a large part in having a good 40 time, so its possible that he just isn't very good at running the 40. It wouldn't surprise me to see his time improve a good bit when he runs at the combine or at pro day, after he has been coached up on running it.

His speed will translate when he's not having to think & can just play.

No doubt. Technique definitely plays a part. 40 times are important, but anyone putting more stock on a 40 than what they see on film is a fool. And what you see on film with Beni is one hell of a LB.
