Wow, those are some eye-popping stats. Either one of them would have more HRs than our entire team!
I know this is a "dead bat" era but damn!

today? Those bats were nothing compared to the bats from the gorilla ball era.

It was always a mystery why Raffy's stats dropped so significantly in his JR year. He batter .406 as a FR, .415 as a SO and then down to .300 as a JR. If Raffy had batted in his JR year like he did his SO year there is not telling how many games the '85 team would have won.

We played lots of 7 inning games back then also. Sweet swings got those hits, not bats with enormous sweet spots.

Was John Mitchell the older brother of David Mitchell who played in 88-89? BTW, i love the name Gator for a second baseman - based on his stats, he "looks" like a player. I hope he was with that name.

John Mitchell was the older brother of Scott, who started at 2nd on the 90 cws team.

They used green Eastons, and that was a helluva good bat. I've still got mine.

Really Clark?

Actually 1985 had the highest HR per game average and batting average at the time. 1985 to 1988 was a very high stretch and in 1986 the NCAA caused the manufacture to adjust the weights of the bats and this restriction caused the totals to drop back down until the bats got too hot again in the late 90's.

I think McDonald also had a, "cup of coffee" in the Big Leagues, didn't he? That, or he was at least drafted, I believe. Or was that Thiesen?

I remember that team putting up 17-22 runs in some games.

Roark McDonald? No. Barry Winford was on that team as a freshman and he was the only catcher on that roster that was ever drafted. He came close to making it with the Rangers.

And Raffy was in a slump in 85! He popped up, etc. Unlike the previous two years. Lots of people in the stands were saying this. He only hit .300.

Back problems that year, he was constantly getting sonogram treatments on his back.
