View Full Version : Since Cohen loves jucos so much, why in the hell arent we after Casey Echols?

Tracy's kid is tearing it at Hinds. Great size kid. No idea how well he bunts though. With our struggles at the plate- I sure hate to see a legacy pass us by that could help.

South Carolina has a kid (last name Logan) whose Dad kicked for our football team years ago. Or at least thats what the announcers said in their game today on ESPNU.

Not sure if he's worth a shit. So he probably could play for us.

Must be Joel Logan's kid. Kicked XP and FGs for us back in the 80's when I was there.

Am I missing something? I looked at his stats, and he is not killing it.

Don't know about stats, but Tracy is always bragging on him. He hits some bombs apparently. I just assumed he prolly had stats to back it up.

Well that stings, looks like if we had reeled him in he would essentially be our best hitter right now.

True, and probably a below average bunter.

I've been wondering the same thing about Casey as well. Tracy has voiced some displeasure on FB about State not giving Casey a look. I know that Tracy isn't too high on Cohen. Not sure if they got along when they played together or not. I'm not sure. But who would be surprised to hear that folks didn't get along with Cohen anyway! At any rate, yeah Casey is TEARING IT UP at Hinds.

I wouldn't call batting .292 in Juco with 2 HRs RAKING. Im sure he's a great kid but compared to Luke Reynolds stats last year at Hinds, Echols' arent up to par. Just my 2cents. I understand he is a legacy, but not sure how you figure he can automatically help us especially with us returning Cody Brown, Robson, Michael Smith, and Humphries in the OF.

.290...4 HR's 29 RBI's. 7 doubles...2 triples

Thought his average was a little higher...I know he has had some big hits for them this year

Yeah, if we're not in favor of most JUCOs, I definitely don't know why people would be screaming for Echols to get a scholarship.

Lowe, on the other hand, could start for us next year. Walks a ton and mashes.

Regardless, Reynolds was a much better hitter last year than Echols is this year.

Note: Has a plus arm. Is 6'4" and can run and fields at a .987 clip. Obviously better stats than Echols.

Games: 36

BA: .378

HR's: 6

RBI's: 39

I would love for Casey to come and walk-on- and I'm sure he would be given that opportunity if he so chooses and would be given a fair chance to play.

There are two problems with this situation- one, we don't have any scholarship money to spend on anyone. And two Casey redshirted as a freshman at Hinds which means he would only have two to play for us.
