They told CDM that guys like Wells are the future at OLB. Those tweeters that can handle the TE/WR combo guys are going to become more and more valuable as Jimmy Graham's keep popping up all over the league. I initially though they could take him as high as the 3rd, but knew they'd pluck him at some point. I think his sight issues may have let him drop some to them though.

Seems like a typical Patriots late round pick. They find guys built for the NFL's future and eventually leave people wondering how in the hell that guy slipped to the 6th round.

Gotta tip your hat to the Pats. They told Mullen they'd draft Wells two freaking years ago! Those dudes do their homework. Two years before they do it they already have their 6th round picks in mind. There's a very real connection between Dan and Belichick. I expect we'll continue to see MSU players getting drafted by NE.

Wells makes the 4th MSU player on the current Pats roster. Chris White, Deontae Skinner, Antonio Johnson.
