I'm Sure I missed it somewhere but did Mckinney decide to go to Chicago?

I hope he did but he'll probably be waiting until tomorrow. I'm also curious to know if Preston is going in light of the recent high projections.

I don't think Preston got an invite to Chicago.

Perusing the 1st round picks so far, I see a shocking lack of crootin-hype type guys. There are some there, but the list isn't chock full of no-brainer croots from 3-4 years ago. MAYBE just maybe the writers for Scout and Rivals don't know everything about football players.

Nope, the percentages play out this year, just like they do every other year. See dawgbone33's post on the 247 board:

Well, let's see if that's right.

1) Jameis Winston - 5*
2) Marcus Mariota - 3*
3) Dante Fowler - 4*
4) Amari Cooper - 4*
5) Brandon Scheriff - 3*
6) Leonard Williams - 4*
7) Kevin White - 3*
8) Vic Beasley - 3*
9) Ereck Flowers - 4*
10) Todd Gurley - 4*
11) Trae Waynes - 3*
12) Danny Shelton - 3*
13) Andrus Peat - 5*
14) DeVante Parker - 3*
15) Melvin Gordon - 4*
16) Kevin Johnson - 3*
17) Arik Armstead - 5*
18) Marcus Peters - 3*
19) Cameron Erving - 3*
20) Nelson Agholor - 5*
21) Cedric Ogbuehi - 4*
22) Bud Dupree - 3*
23) Shane Ray - 3*
24) D.J. Humphries - 5*
25) Shaq Thompson - 5*
26) Breshad Perriman - 2*
27) Byron Jones - 3*
28) Laken Tomlinson - 3*
29) Phillip Dorsett - 3*
30) Damarious Randall - 3*
31) Stephone Anthony - 5*
32) Malcom Brown - 5*

On the surface you are correct. In the 1st round last night we had:

16 - 3*
8 - 5*
7 - 4*
1 - 2*

Here's what I mean by on the surface. Each year in the in the 247 Sports Top 247 there are somewhere between 25-35 kids rated 5-star. This year there are 28, 35 last year, 33 the year before that, and 34 the year before that. So, it's fairly consistent.

You know how many 3-star kids are out there? OVER A THOUSAND. We're talking most years 1000+ vs. 30. Thats the difference between 5 star and 3 star.

The 4-star kids round out the top 247 so there are roughly 200-220 4-star kids.

As for the 2-star prospects there are again, thousands, no set number, every kid in the system gets an initial rating of 2-star.

So, go back and look at that list again. Even with the overwhelming number of college players rated a 2 or 3 star, when you add up all the college players, STILL almost half of the 1st round was made up of 5 and 4 star rated players. Half the players out there in college football entering the NFL draft are not 5 and 4 star rated players. Not even 1/3 are rated that high.

Bottom line, load up in recruiting with as many 5's and 4's as you can get your hands on. Sure some won't pan out but your chances are a helluva lot better than they pan out vs. all the 3's and 2's you land.
