Not that it is shocking news or anything, but Cohen was named College Baseball Insider National Coach of the Year finalist today along with the coaches from KSU, Louisville, UVA, UCLA, Indiana and Cal State Fullerton. Winner to be announced Wednesday. It would be his second National Coach of the Year award if he wins. He won it in 2006 at UK. We got us a good one.

I think I would vote for the UCLA coach.

O'Conner at UVA IMO...

This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for them -- and he accomplished all that he did primarily on the backs of freshmen...

I would vote UCLA coach 1st...Cohen 2nd....both teams overachieved, they just achieved a little more than us

I wouldn't argue, but the fact they got upset in supers at home probably killed his chance

Hard to go against the National Champs.

You're right. I'm wondering if the fact that UCLA has been there 3 of the last 4 years and this is Cohen's first as a head coach if that may give him a slight edge. Would really love to see him pull that award out though. It would be another plus in the recruiting game.

...Cohen's team finished 2nd in the nation without any starting pitching.

That's a once in a century achievement.

Cohen should win going away.

Homer pick... But John deserves it for what he did with what he had this year. Very much over achieved in everyone's eyes

Hard to go against the National Champs.

If we used this logic then there would never be a need for a vote

I was specifically referring to UCLA. Here you go.

Hard to argue with THESE National Champs. Did not have a hitter close to .300

Which obviously makes a coach COY worthy...

Having three super talented arms not factoring at all is completely different***

Upon further note it actually makes LA's coach MORE worthy given what he accomplished.

UCLA won by consistently out-executing everybody. That is coaching.

Cohen is a deserving candidate also for the high level of player development that got us to #2.

I am just in shock and awe that someone claims Cohen is a top 5 coach in the country.
