We went 3-0 last week. Good job. We definitely could not afford to have dropped any of those three as they would've been bad losses. Gals beat Memphis Wednesday night 11-3 in six, then swept Georgia Southern on the road, winning 6-2 on Saturday and 7-5 in nine on Sunday, improving to 34-16. There are no midweek games this week with three games on the weekend at South Carolina to round out the regular season and conference play. I'm not sure we can improve out SEC tournament seed at this point, but let's look at the standings:
1) Florida (16-4, 47-4) #1 RPI
this week: 3 game series @ Missouri
2) Auburn (16-5, 44-8) #3 RPI
this week: 3 game series @ LSU
3) LSU (14-7, 43-8) #2 RPI
this week: vs. SE Louisiana (RPI #233) Wednesday followed by 3 game series vs. Auburn
4) Alabama (14-7, 38-11) #6 RPI
this week: 3 game series @ Arkansas
5) Missouri (13-8, 37-11) #8 RPI
this week: doubleheader vs. Northern Iowa (RPI #152) Wednesday followed by 3 game series vs. Florida
6) Georgia (14-9, 39-13) #15 RPI
this week: no games
7) Tennessee (12-9, 36-13) #11 RPI
this week: 3 game series vs. Kentucky
8) Mississippi State (9-12, 34-16) #30 RPI
this week: 3 game series @ South Carolina
9) Texas A&M (9-12, 35-17) #23 RPI
this week: vs. Texas State (RPI #66) Wednesday followed by 3 game series vs. Ole Miss
10) South Carolina (8-13, 34-18) #32 RPI
this week: 3 game series vs. Mississippi State
11) Ole Miss (6-15, 30-21) #62 RPI
this week: @ Miss. Valley State (RPI #261) Wednesday followed by 3 game series @ Texas A&M
12) Kentucky (5-16, 29-20) #22 RPI
this week: 3 game series @ Tennessee
--> KY is a fine example of when RPI doesn't mean much. Play a tough schedule. Great. Win some games though. (relating to football: a competitive 5-7 against the toughest schedule still means you're home for the holidays)
13) Arkansas (1-20, 16-34) #78 RPI
this week: doubleheader vs. SE Missouri State (RPI #189) Wednesday followed by 3 game series vs. Alabama
--> The lone win in SEC play is over USCe and also the lone win in the last 17 games period
As you can see by the numbers we will not move up period, even if Tennessee tanks. They swept us. Dropping to #9 really wouldn't change anything as we would then play #8. We have the H2H tiebreaker over A&M, but if they win 2 of 3 against the B*tchsharks and we lose 2 or more @ USCe, we would drop to 10th and play #7. In a wild scenario if Ole Missus swept A&M and we were swept by USCe, then TAMU, UMiss, and MSU would all be tied for 9th. But the tiebreakers would put us at 10th. Bottom line: Win the series at South Carolina gals.
With that, I'm off the Governor's Cup game! Hail State!
