With this lineup, now that we've seen our lack of hitting prowess, we should be bunting like we were early in the season. Cohen now looks much smarter early in the season by bunting with all these Judys. It sucks to have to play offense that way but I think we have now proven it was the right thing to do with this club. We can't drive runs in. We have to manufacture some offense somehow. Now Cohen is being stubborn and never bunting when it's what the club should be doing. This whole season just feels like the staff reads our board and just says "well **** yall we will show you. See there?..see there... We told you." It's maddening.

There is a reason Florida is driving the baseball and it's simply mechanics. Look at the majority of their hitters elbows and hands at the plate. Most have both elbows pointed downward toward ground and are gripping the bat with their fingers and pinching wrists together. Any of these tree simple to change things will increase power. Do all three and you will bash them off of left center field lounges. These three things also prevent you from rolling your hands before contact. The important thing about not rolling hands before contact Is hitting somewhat downward through the point of contact, creating backspin on the ball and more carry. That's the end result of simply changing these things about hitters approaches. It's not rocket science. One off season taking BP with a belt tied around your arms at the elbows will easily fix our power woes. Shit, watching the Astros yesterday, one of their smaller guys hit one over 400 feet and he barely swung. The key was he kept his elbows close to his body and let the core of his body produce the power.

The one Florida hitter who has his back elbow high like Vickerson doesn't put the ball in play with much force.

And I justified why. It's not about his ability. I'd be a complete f'n moron to say he's anything other than a great manager. But there are a lot of factors in play in bringing in a guy from MLB. For instance, Buck isn't exactly a spring chicken. Will he want to hit the road to recruit? And that's just one off the top of my head with no real thought about others. It's also well known Buck is a control freak who has players practice how to put on their uniform, shoes, etc. I doubt that would go over well with a bunch of college kids. Not to mention I don't see how you could micromanage to that degree within the limited amount of practice time allowed by the NCAA.

And aGAIN, my reason has nothing to do with Buck personally. It has to do with a need to infuse fresh blood into our baseball program with the next hire, if we have to get rid of Cohen. 40 years, 3 coaches, all connected by either coaching with or playing for Polk. We need to get away from the Good Ol' Boy hiring method if Cohen fails. And bringing in Buck, despite the media buzz it would create, would be the ultimate GOB hire. Frankly, it's a move I'd expect from the BearSharks, not us. Win the press conference while ignoring the realities. And the reality is clear: If Cohen doesn't improve, it will be time to bring in someone from outside. I would think you could understand that.
