Just started watching in the second half. Haven't been able to see much because he isn't getting the ball.

He looks a little lazy on defense but then again this is an all star game and nobody is really playing defense. He goes after rebounds, is not afraid to get his hands dirty on the glass.

Has missed two shots, a transition three and a contact lay up. He understand tempo and knows when to slow it down. His team getting beat in a transition game, so he pulls it out and slows it down. Making good passes. Nails a three, he clearly has range. Dribbles exceptionally well, keeps his head up(something a lot of players don't do when dribbling.), also making good decisions. We will have half as many turnover as last year just by having the ball in his smart hands.

Overall, he is a smart fundamental player. Doesn't blow you out of the water when watching him, but he does the small things well. Makes good passes. He is in complete control when he has the ball in his hands. Forcing the defense to move around him, creating space for his teammates.

Wow can he pass. He is picking the East team apart. People who say he can not play point guard have lost their minds. He is a great scorer, but my God can he pass the ball.

Think he made the comment to some interviewer around the time Howland was hired that defense is the weakest part of his game and would like to play for a defensive-minded guy like Howland to help him improve it.

I recorded it last night because I wanted to see him again against top notch talent. He looked bad at the MAAG!

Does anybody ever play defense in an all-star game?

Defense in basketball takes time to develop cohesion and team chemistry. Wont get that in an all-star game

There was no defense played till the last four minutes. So didn't really judge his defense much. Even so, we need Newman's scoring a lot more than we need his defense.
