They missed on Marshall, so they are desperate to get a big name to keep the nuts...err....fans from rioting against the AD.

Bama thought their job was so great, but it really isn't.

Alabama's basketball job is no better than Mississippi State's. I know some Bammer fans have a hard time believing that, but it's true. We made a better hire and if they hire Avery Johnson, it will still be a better hire. Just because he coached in the NBA doesn't mean that it's a great hire. Hell, half of the fans on this board can't name more than 3 or 4 current NBA coaches.

You're right, the jobs are certainly comparable, IMO... Bama's won a few more SECC & SECTCs than MSU and probably leads the head to head... but it's nothing either school should really crow about... Baseball is similar... Football is the only sport of the "big 3" where one school is dominate over the other.

And Mississippi State has been the better overall program over the past couple decades, though it's been close a lot of years.

Get the 17 outta here. You're kidding right? We've been to the CWS almost twice as many as Bama, 16 more times in post season play, not to mention our facilities and attendance records. Nice try though.

Well, if Wimp hadnt punched his Secretary- who caught him cheating on her and she attacked his ass- he would have kept his job. When you are cheating on your wife with your Secretary- you cant get caught by her cheating on her too.

that thing was wild, wasn't it? we should have sent her adulterous ass to a gulag and given Wimp a raise***

but you're dead on, Coach... hope you are well.

According to Steve Goodman on ESPN ticker scroll, he has verbally accepted the position. Just got a feeling about it that this is going to a terrible hire for them.

Really hate that for them.***

historically had. You don't hold attendance records, you haven't had the Clarks and Palmeiros, etc. You just haven't. Yes, you've been a competitive program that has had some very solid success but MSU has almost double the number of CWS appearances and let's don't even talk about atmosphere. It's like comparing our football game day against Bama's.

oh, we were using different metrics... my bad...

I agree that Bama baseball is vastly inferior to, and in no way comparable to MSU baseball when using criteria other than wins, championships and the like.

hopefully, the new bama stadium will be nice.

Bama football >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> State football
Bama basketball = State basketball
Bama Baseball <<< State baseball

(In my opinion how I see it)

Back to the topic at hand, this is an interesting hire. Certainly a bigger name than in the past, but I'm not sure how much excitement and momentum this brings the fanbase. And i'm not sure what kind of work he is willing to put in as a recruiter

It was a misunderstanding, Big4... the only metrics I used in my "comparable" comment, were "on the field" related... (Ws, hardware, etc)...

In NO way would I suggest Bama has better baseball facilities or attendance than msu...

also, I changed "job" to "program"... that was my bad, too.

My dislike for Mississippi is definitely "comparable" to yall's....

I root for Auburn and Tennessee when the play UM*.... I'd root for ND if they played UM....

We're 188-210-4 all time against Bama but they're 213-175-3 against us? How the hell does that work? One or both of those is wrong. Records would have to be the inverse of each other.

Bama logic. Remember this is the school with 2,456 proclaimed National Titles in football. Hell Bear Bryant won 893 of them and Saban has won over 1,351 of them in only a decade.

The 33 other remaining national titles in football are held by the sharkbears from oxfart, at least that is what the tsun folks say. That is based on polls from a leading women's housekeeping magazine and a cereal company, so it must be true.

I just wonder how much heart and effort Johnson can put in recruiting 17-18 year olds and their mama's.

Ifyouonlyknew
04-06-2015, 08:45 AM
The key for Johnson will be what kind of staff he puts together. If he gets a staff with a couple dynamite recruiters he can definitely succeed. If not it's going to be tough sledding.

the first record is from the MSU media guide; the 2nd is from the Bammer media guide...

baseball series records often do not match based on which school you "ask"... it's not uncommon...
