QB Nick Fitzgerald from Ga committed. He's currently unranked but he's 6'5 205 and runs a 4.65. He's a bit raw throwing but a really good runner and athlete. Somewhat of a project but he's an early enrollee. Both he and Staley knew we were signing 2 QBs so no issue there.

Now the big picture point. After next year, MSU has Dak Prescott, Damien Williams, Elijiah Staley, and Nick Fitzgerald. All true dual threat guys! All 4 guys are perfect for Mullen's system. IMO all 4 have talent to be good SEC QBs and Dak & Staley have the talent to be special.

Hmmmm- saw him listed as a pro-style and thought the worst....maybe not a bad pick-up.

We know doubt need 4 QB's on the roster for 2014

I know CoachCamp wants Elijah to enroll early- but that damn big roundball stands in the way. I'm a big supporter of Coach Ray, but would much rather have Staley here for practice this coming Spring. 2 early enrollees at QB would be HUGE

Dang, we won't be hurting for size at QB. A 6'7 guy and a 6'5 guy? Wow, makes Tyler seem undersized at only 6'4.

He might be listed pro style but he is an option QB at his school. Big arm but raw. The reason we take him now is b/c this is the type of guy who will blow up this year when he puts up big numbers, so we want him in the boat now. Staley is the crown jewel of this QB class but Fitzgerald is a nice pick up as well. Some will gripe now but check this kids offer sheet in Febuary

How did we get so hot on him? Was he at our camp as a QB?

"Coach (Dan) Mullen feels like I am a lot like Alex Smith in the fact I am athletic with a good arm and good footwork," said Fitzgerald. "I know I am not listed as a dual-threat but I feel I am. I have run a 4.65 forty before and Coach Mullen likes the fact I can also make things happen with my legs."

I'm not gonna straight rip off Paul's story but we've been on him for a while (Im assuming from the camp circuit) and we turned it up when he came to camp this time (where he committed). Per Paul, he's been committed a few weeks now but went public today.

We were told that 2 QB's would be taken from the 2014 class. We were told that the 2nd QB would be a multiple position guy. IMO, its good to have 4 QB's on the roster. Ive seen freaky things happen to QB's. Also, if Fitz is coming in Jan, maybe that might encourage Elijah to do that also. I REALLY want him to, so he can compete right away. If he decides not to, then he will red shirt for sure. Either way he wont see the b-ball court til football is COMPLETLY over with.

I heard his primary position is wideout & that he is playing QB fulltime this year. Is this true?

It seems like this is his first year at QB.

It's refreshing to see a recruit welcome competition.

Yes, I believe he played wideout the last few years because they had another QB that started (and signed with Air Force this spring). I believe the plan is for him to be the full-time QB this fall.

That great then.. You cant never have enough mobile QB's!

a high school QB not afraid to compete once he gets on campus will be refreshing. This is the SEC. It's good Staley recognizes that and is ready for big time football.

What level competition is this guy facing in his film? Looks pretty good running the ball...be sure to click on JR highlights. Off the charts athleticism with both of our QB commitments...

With the size Fitz has, tight end could be a possibility in our offense.

I guess we need to help him "feel the love"...

@NickFitz07: Why can't I be that guy with thousands of followers!? #notcoolenough

I'm over here in GA. I'm gonna try to see both of these guys play this fall and do a write up on them.

6'5" and 205 lbs ain't what I would call 'size'. Not to mention, Scout has him at 190 lbs.

That's what I think as well. Get athletic guys that can do other things and get them on the field where they best fit.

4.65 40. Right... Maybe he's slow accelerating. His top end is there.

There are some slow ass SEC DBs if he only runs a 4.65

As a general rule yes ... if we wanna compete for championships. There is no doubt IMO tho that Dan can evaluate and then develop QBs. Having consistency on the O staff for the last few years have probably helped that.

QB is different. At every other position, you pretty much have to recruit measurables. NOW.... sometimes kids with the proper measurables are playing out of position & are therefore undervalued, but that's not all that common

I contend that having a 8" dick is better then having a 12" dick.

a. You can only go so deep. Few inch's wasted.
b. You can only go so deep. Few inch's not feeling anything.

I was bored AF last night so I decided to rewatch the game for the 10th time. On Fitz's 61 yrd TD run in the 3rd quarter, I timed him running 40 yards of it, because he mainly ran straight up field.
This is nothing scientific, just me with a cell phone in one hand and a cold ML in another. I clocked him in the 4.5 to 4.6 range every time.
Thats with pads on and a football in his hands. I don't know what his real time is but he's pretty damn fast.

He's faster than a 4.65. He obviously didn't have the proper technique in high school to run the forty. He's a low 4.5 possibly high 4.4 guy
