OK fellow outdoor dawgs, in a further effort to make hunting even harder on myself than it has to be, I am considering taking up traditional archery. My initial research has me leaning to a recurve vs longbow, and I would like to hear any experience/advice from you here.

My dad has a 35# 1967 recurve that I will use to begin practice with, in hopes of purchasing a hunting rig at 50ish lbs later this summer.

Anyone shoot traditional archer here, and if so, what has your experience been?

Recurve is the logical step in the procession toward truly traditional archery. It's a bridge in other words to learn instinctive shooting, etc...

The last real step is building your own longbow "traditionally". My dad has made that step -- I haven't yet.

You will be glad you did this. It adds back that excitement you had when you first started bowhunting all over again. Now -- if I'm hunting a particular buck or something -- recurve is staying at the house...
