He had 7 in the 1st quarter, his team is up 19-9.

BTW, the team he beat last week was the #1 team in AAA and #6 overall in the state, and the team he's playing tonight is #2 in AAA and made the semis in AAAA last year.

He looks good, had a couple of nice moves to get to the basket that he didn't quite finish that led to baskets as well.

Had a steal and a breakaway dunk that he threw down with ease. His quickness and athleticism is impressive, for sure.

He's got 12 at the half, team's lead was cut to 29-27.

He struggled some offensively that quarter. Missed 3 jumpers and actually missed a layup that he threw too hard off the backboard. Also had a sick Eurostep called off b/c if a borderline travel call. Had a really nice bucket near the half and then didn't quite beat the buzzer on a last-second runner that went in.

The opposing team's entire defensive strategy has been to deny him, and he didn't really look for his own shot much until right before the half. I expect him to turn it up in the 2nd half.

I'm most impressed with his activity on defense and his demeanor. Got back on a dead sprint after his teammate was stolen leading to a 2-0 fast break the other way, and he got back in time to knock it away.

I like what I've seen, but he's missed a couple of easy ones. May just be hyped up.

First 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter have been strange. Tookie's barely touched it on offense and hasn't attempted a shot, Morgan County is now down 35-31. It's almost as though they're hiding him on offense...they have him setting screens, not running anything to get it in his hands.

Still waiting for him to try to take over.

Well, he's going to have to play through some adversity now. He's been called for some really questionable fouls and I think he was T'd up on another questionable call, which would put him at 4. He has 14, team is now down 44-34 with 1:30 left in the 3rd.

I'm interested to see how he responds, if he can rise above this. Jenkins as a team is far better than Morgan County.

ETA: down 46-39 going into the 4th, Tookie has 16. He gets to the rim with ease whenever he wants, yet they've kept it out of his hands on offense, and now he's limited by the fouls.

Tookie has out them on his back the last 4-5 minutes. He has 25, tied at 60 with 28 seconds left. Other team has the ball.

Dang. Jenkins hit a layup with 4 seconds left, and after a timeout, dude threw the inbounds pass all the way down the court out of bounds. Tookie lost.

If it says anything, the opposing coach said their only strategy was to hold Tookie under 30.

I hate that the refs took Tookie out of his game, though he was definitely off most of the night. Still showed a ton of competitiveness late, he was crashing the offensive glass hard, had a crazy put back on one. Finished with at least 9 rebounds and hit something like 11/12 FTs.

I really like the talent I saw. I'm not going to predict he becomes a star, but he absolutely has that potential.

That is a massive understatement. I think there us a real chance Tookie is one of our 3-4 best players next year. He will have an immediate impact.

Not sure. I'd be happy if he is better next season though.

I'm sure. Guess we'll see how stubborn Ray will be about it. Hopefully Tookie doesn't get the Bear Wilson and Dunlap treatment.

You know the situations aren't comparable.

I think Tookie can be a 14+ ppg scorer by his sophomore year.

How do we know? Seems like RR ostracizes one a year. Hope it's not Tookie this next time. Does Ray not do that?

What?

Bear is a football player first and couldn't even practice until more than halfway through the year. Dunlap got hurt and is being redshirted.

Why would I think Ray is going to send Tookie to WR and then deliberately injure/redshirt him?

You made a terrible, weak attempt to criticize Ray in a thread in which nobody brought him up. Congrats.
