Planning on coming up to the UK game from Jackson! I was going to ask if I could get some update on road conditions in Starkville as the time gets closer! Any advise would be appreciated! Like I said I am "planning" and still accessing to see if I "should" go!

Thank you!

If things go as forecast the roads will be a mess. You can go to mdot's web page for road conditions.

Do we have time to move boston's snow here before game time?*

I wish by some miracle that we could get this game canceled giving us at least a shot to get to .500

Here is the link to the mdot site on road conditions. Since there may be people wanting to drive up for the game tonight thought I'd post it. Might be a good thread for people to post road/weather conditions. Right now here in Starkville we have light freezing rain with some occasional sleet mixing in.

the Tupelo area...........Looking like the Golden Triangle is gonna get hammered pretty good.........NWS showing between 4-8 inches of precipitation for that area..........Just north of there 3-7 and areas north of Tupelo 2-4 inches......

Where is everybody at and what kinda precip you getting, if any?

We got sleet/freezing rain on Monday morning which had the roads messed up until Tuesday afternoon once the temps got above freezing. Schools were cancelled Monday and Tuesday but not today. Heard traffic was horrible so I'm posted up on the couch

nothing here in the north delta but a lot of rain. It started snowing a little before 8 here. Did that for an hour, then heavy sleet for about 30 mins. Now it has been freezing rain and rain ever since. I really want to see some snow accumulation, but it aint gonna happen. I will say that there is some serious slush on the sidewalks and some roads right now, so if the temps keep dropping and precip continues to fall, then we might have some issues this afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Mesoscale Discussion for Heavy Snow. Now what are they talking about with Heavy Snow? Let's just say they are calling for around 1 inch per hour snowfall.

I'm still confident with the 3-5" of snowfall...roads will be tricky to the point where I wouldn't travel unless you are confident in your driving/necessary to drive. I do think we will have classes tomorrow because people will drive and halfway clear the roads for the morning until the snow melts.

Also, Preacher, just because it doesn't snow in Philadelphia doesn't mean I was wrong in my forecast preacher. Make no mistake, this was a borderline situation as far as where the snow/rain line would be. You want to get pissy with me about that, then so be it. Why don't you go get a 4-year Meteorology degree, and then we can talk about it like educated men.

How did it end up for you? The Upper level low ended up swinging lower than I20 along with a 35 degree warm nose made for another 33 degree rain for almost all of it for me with just a sprinkling of a covering around DFW Airport.

Big-ass flakes here in W. Lowndes too. I set up my GoPro on a 1 minute time-lapse. Hopefully It'll turn out worth a damn.

Ref, my WX station (Vantage Pro II) on my roof is showing ~33 degrees....has been all day. Spurts of ~34. I can only guess that is bad news for roadways, limbs, powerlines, etc? Or is it really not a big deal, and just turn into slush around 0800?

What type of roof do you have? I know it seems silly, but I do believe that a roof material/color will change temperatures slightly.

Hmmmm...there can be some factors to make a weather station inaccurate. But temperatures should decrease through the day, precipitation is expected to stick around until about 8-9 PM.
