Working on remodeling a bathroom this weekend, so I kept it simple today. Had a pot of seafood gumbo with fresh GA shrimp and blue crab. House smells great!

I was hoping to grill out tomorrow but here in Memphis it doesn't look to promising. May make some chili.

I'm not a whiskey drinker - I think too much cheap whiskey college ruined it for me. Been a beer and wine drinker most of my adult life.

I've been keeping a bottle of Tito's vodka on hand, off and on for several years, but about a year ago decided to buy a bottle of vermouth and start drinking martini's and cut back on beer a little. I like dirty martinis on the rocks.

After killing some time reading vodka reviews and comments a few days ago I made a short list of vodkas to check at the liquor store. So yesterday I ended up buying my 1.75 of Tito's ($29) and a 1.75 of Sobieski ($20) at Joe's here in Memphis.

I poured a small shot of each to compare at room temperature. I had never tried a shot of Tito's warm, only from the freezer. I was surprised at how smooth it was - not much flavor but a little sweetness on the finish. Had a drink of water and then tried the Sobieski - more initial burn than the Tito's, then a little peppery taste on the finish.

So, I had a couple of Tito's martinis last night. Tonight I decided I would try a couple of Sobieski martinis - I was most pleasantly surprised - tasted equal to Tito's (or maybe better). Tito's is amazing stuff at a great price point, but as a tip of the hat to the Polish who invented vodka you might want to check out some Sobieski.

Ate at Manship tonight. Freaking outstanding restaurant. First pic is Duroc Pork Shoulder with greens and grits. Had some sort of honey glaze. Touch it with a fork and it fell apart

Last is dessert. Strawberry tart with vanilla ice cream with a honey maple glaze. No pictures for the apps which were out of this works. Lobster ravioli and we also got a smoked tuna dip. Caesar salad's dressing was one of the better I've ever had.
