Softball Starts Today vs MVSU (5:30 on SEC Network +)

So this is the first game of the season and also the first game of the Bulldog Kickoff. Your Bulldog softball team will start off their season and looks to extend their momentum from last season that saw them go to the Lafayette Regional and have a final record of 39-21 (10-14 SEC).

This year, we get lucky by not having to face perennial powerhouse Alabama in the regular season. That's a 3-game stretch that I wasn't going to look forward to if we had to face them. We do face some big-name clubs this year in Starkville. Some of these include Penn State and Illinois. We also will be going on the road for a huge tournament in Orlando, FL. During that tournament (Feb. 27-March 1) we will face Minnesota, Maryland, Notre Dame, Indiana, and Georgetown.

What are your expectations for this season, and how far do you think we will go?

I think we will be improved based on a casual conversation i had with the coach and the fact we played so well against bama last season.

I dont know to what extent though.

The girls are fun to watch and the stadium gets packed when the weather gets nice

I'm looking forward to watching the MSU softball team. Thanks for the update. My daughter attended the MSU softball camp a few weeks back. We have an outstanding staff and a great group of players. I'm anxious to see Katie Anne Bailey at catcher. She had a really good freshman season, and I believe she will be a team leader this year. I'd like to see us continue to improve from last year and win a Regional. We have the coaching staff and talent to do it. For those of you who have never watched them play, go see them. Their athletic ability and speed of the game will surprise you. It's fun, fast and highly competitive.
