We can talk about star ratings, rankings, etc... till we are blue in the face, but the TRUTH is that, under Dan Mullen, MSU Football has become a well run, healthy business. We sign balanced classes, full of good players, that fill our needs and fit our scheme.

Sure, we don't recruit at an elite level yet, but we just signed 10 4 star players and let another, Champion, go to JUCO. The fact is that at that pace, over a 4 or 5 year cycle of players going through your program, we could have around 40 4 star or greater recruits on the roster at any given time. Folks, sure Alabama, Auburn, and LSU may have a few more, but that is enough to beat them on any given day and be favored in most every home game we play.

Our staff deserves a standing ovation for what they've done. Not just with this signing class, but the healthy business model that they've brought and successfully implemented at our university. Due to this balanced business model, we are now turning into a reloading program and not just a one good year program.

Thank you Dan Mullen and the coaching staff for making MSU Football the healthiest it has ever been in it's history of over 100 years. We applaud you!!!!

If Champion was going to qualify and if we would have signed Swain and Gabe Campbell, this would have been the ideal MSU signing class.

Mullen goes after elite in-state prospects. Other than that, he goes after the best players in the South that aren't recruited by Bama, AU, and LSU. A very sound strategy.

We're basically now consistently recruiting at a level that allows us to compete every year. Sure, others may have more pure talent up and down the roster, but we'll have enough talent to be a good QB away from competing for the conference at any given time.

Given the fact that our coach is a fantastic QB and offensive coach, I like where we're sitting.

Absolutely. It's smart because it allows you to build the class the way you want to build it. It allows you to stay balanced across the board.

Again, Ole Miss goes after the #1 guy and when they miss, they are stuck with the #3 guy because we take all the #2 guys and get the players we want.
It's a sound recruiting strategy that keeps you from having major holes on the field.

As I say we always take the #2 player, we also generally get who we want in state.

We used to compete with Kentucky and Vandy for who would land the better class. We're now well ahead of them and pretty consistently ahead of Arkansas and Missouri as well.

Just stay among the top 20-25 classes, and we'll be fine.

We are definitely heading down the right path. Just think back over the past 3 or 4 years and think of how most folks projected our 2-deep lineups after each NSD. We always seemed to be worried about one position group or another, this year most of us MSU folks were mainly concerned about the secondary and the o-line to a smaller extent. Well, the coaching staff has signed a very solid class that if it all shows up this summer and more or less pans out as projected addresses both of those concerns with both immediate and long term help. The rest of the position groups are basically building depth and filling mostly long term needs. Pair what signed this NSD with the red-shirts and the regular returnees our roster gets significantly better than last year in terms of talent and potential. As long as we can continue to sign classes like the staff has done this and in previous years, we should maintain a level that we will be happy about. I have a lot of confidence in this Head Coach and his staff to do exactly what they say they are planning to do, which is build a strong program with a solid foundation that will compete for championships. Smart and solid recruiting is part of that plan.

If our name was Georgia, Auburn, Bama, Tennessee, LSU or aTm we'd be ranked #8 instead of #16 with the same exact players.

There's a lot of truth to this. Put Peters and Lewis in FL, GA, or TX with every program in the country coming in after them, and they're 5-stars.

Think about it--We were #1 in the nation for 5 weeks--we damn sure didn't do it with untalented players. Our red-shirt program and signing the best players in Ms. Must be a good plan. Get em Dan and Coach em up.

You guys sure Jamal Peters won't start next year?

Mullen on Peters-If he stepped on campus today, he might be in the two deep right away

I think he probably will at some point. People point to Mullen's history, which is fair, but I can't remember Mullen signing a player this talented at a position of such need, so it's not necessarily relevant, either.

Chris Jones came in at a position that wasn't really a need and still ended up basically starting by the end of the year. I think Peters plays a ton, and I think Lewis plays a good bit, too.
