I've had Lagavulin 16, and 18. They are both awesome. Yes, Bunnahabhain is an Islay. The 18 has the smoke but not quite the bite of every other Islay I have had. It's incredible. For the record I LOVE Laphroaig 10, cut a bit with water of course. That one is almost pure peat smoke.

I love the 16...I might kill to try the 18; I've actually never seen it on a shelf, or I'd probably have bought it by now. I'll give yours a try for sure though. I love the smoke and peat of Islays. Absolutely. I got a Glenfidditch "The Original" "Inspired by their 1963" for Christmas ( along with a Bunnahabhain 18) . That one is right up there with the Bunnahabhain 18 to me. It's a Speyside, and I'm a big Islay fan so I was totally and happily surprised by it. My wife, who hates scotch, gets this stuff for me at Christmas at Breweskis' in Starkville. I've never shopped with the owner but she has several times. She tells him what I like and he has NEVER steered her wrong. I don't know him but the dude KNOWS what Islay lovers like.

Yeah he does know his scotch. Corky's has waaaay better prices though, on just about everything, but it's really obvious with their top shelf stuff (like 10-20 dollars difference on the same bottle).
