Yet again we show a lack of common basketball iq. Against a 1-3-1, if you're the off ball handler, you need to be two feet behind te guy with the ball so you can pass back and forth. Instead, we stand 5 feet ahead on the other side of half court so that as soon as you catch it you get trapped. It's literally learned in high school. At WORST, be parallel with the ball handler. That's on ray. And whoever these kids played junior high ball for

I agree our turnovers were bad but the foul discrepancy was the difference in the game. The turnover margin could have been a little closer if the refs had actually let us play defense.

Well I didn't watch. Even when I checked the score and saw we were up double digits in the second half I had no faith we would hold the lead. Just can't bring myself to get emotionally invested in it. Yes, we are playing better but we've got 2 wins over bad teams to show for it while we let 3 games against pretty decent teams we could have won all get away from us (TA&M, GA, OM). Ray is likely going to do just enough with 5 or 6 wins in the SEC this year to keep his job and then we will get to have the debate all over again next year. Still just monitoring recruiting and waiting on baseball at this point.

Again. All these stats are true but the unforced turnovers is what lost this game oh and Fred Thomas' shooting. We shot over 50 percent as a team with Fred going 0-7 from the floor. Why was he in the game late and not Daniels? Fred gave us nothing at all. He even stunk on D tonight. And Roquez must've had his head up his ass in the 2nd half. You can't play much worse than that in a single half of basketball. The officials were really not very good. They called about what 5 or so charges tonight and a couple of blocking fouls and I would've called them the exact opposite on every single one of them I believe. We could not get close to summers the last 10 minutes of the game. He would just drive it and go up and throw his hands up and they call a foul. Ugh. Shit. I'm gojng to sleep

How many of those 16 turnovers came in the second half? If someone could link to somewhere to I could find all this info that would be great too.

Turnovers killed us in the first half- the foul discrepancy killed us in the second half. We actually took pretty good care of the ball in the second half.

Fouls were 27-12
FT's were 29-37 to 6-11
I'm not saying that all of the calls against us were not fouls, but there is no way in hell it was that one-sided.
MSU had better shot %
MSU had better 3 point % and 3's made
MSU had more assists
MSU had more rebounds

I don't think either team was doing a lot of fouling. I'm not upset with the refs not calling fouls on them because I don't think they were fouling but I don't understand all of the fouls being called on us. And on jump shots at that. Terrible. Again summers shot 25 free throws. He's not Michael Jordan

Fred Thomas' night
0-6 from the floor, 2 turnovers(seemed like 10) , 4 fouls, 1 assist
Roquez Johnson's night
2-3 from the floor, FIVE turnovers, 4 fouls, no assists
We got 4 points, 8 fouls, 1 assist, 7 turnovers, 1 block, and 9 rebounds out of two of our veteran players. And these stats don't really even point out just how poorly they played.

Both players are very streaky in production.
Games like this are why I say zuppardo/black will fill in just fine for johnson next season

I love Roq, but he's physically limited.
Where's that idiot who said ray made him a 25 and 10 player?

The more i watch this team the more it's not about the personel it's just about them being outcoached. Tonight was my first game to watch in person since rick ray was hired. We shot great outside of fred , yea we turned the damn rock over too much, and yea they got a shit ton of fouls go their way. We're up like 13-2 in first half and they go 1-3-1 and we look like a buncha sped kids playing basketball (bringing the ball up and picking up dribble in corner/throwing to the short corner it was just hard to watch offensively for a while). I would have been ok with it it except it basically lasted the next 10 minutes of the half. Had a similar drought in the 2nd half but for me it got foggy at that point. The officiating was piss poor dont get me wrong, but our inability to adjust as a coaching staff is a glaring problem at this point.
Nice to see craig sword playing well. Really like this guy and he plays hard.
