@ClowESPN: Four of the Top 10 teams in final AP poll this year (TCU, Mich. St, Baylor, Ga. Tech) didn't have a top 25 signing class in 2011, 12 or 13.

Next question should be.... How much should recruiting sites' evaulation be trusted?

Both of you make good points but this is what I see: 4 head coaches that know their system, accurately evaluate talent, and then develop it when it gets to campus. All 4 coaches are masters at those things. I'd put Mullen in that realm as well with the main difference being the SEC West as far as year in and year out results.

No doubt Mullen is one of the best at evaluating and developing talent.

The way I see it though is you still need those 4-5 stars studs if you want to be a national contender year in and year out and not just have 1 or 2 10 win seasons every decade.

In the final ap top 15, the following 8 teams didn't have a top 15 class going back to '11:

Tcu, Michigan state, Baylor, georgia tech, us, Arizona state, wisconsin, and mizzou.

How many NCs do those teams have over the past 15 years?

In 2011, 2012, and 2013, Michigan State went 11-3, 7-6, and 13-1.
TCU went 11-2, 7-6 and 4-8.
Georgia tech went 8-5, 7-7, 7-6.
Baylor went 10-3, 8-5, and 11-2.

I'd say it's pretty likely that the lack of stars rears its head for those teams as well, considering. Development can certainly have you some great years, but without the stars, it's certainly pretty likely that you're going to have some 5+ loss years there as well.

Baylor and MSU seem to be the most consistent over that brief time period. But MSU has had the benefit of only Wisconsin and Ohio State being 'up' right now in the B1G. And Baylor's rise has coincided with the collapse of OU and Texas.

None.

Looking at recruiting ranking from past years, it seems the sites nail the top 5. After that it seems, 6-30 is just a guess
