He introduced me to MSU football, dragging me to games when I was a kid to watch Johnnie Cooks play. Although my dad didn't graduate from State he bled maroon and white. He joined the Navy at the age of 18 because of WWII and served on a destroyer for 4 years. He was my hero, my friend and who I hope I can say when its my time that I was half the man he was.

Sounds like your dad lived a full life. It's pretty cool he drug you to those games. My 10 year old isn't too excited about going to State games, but I'm sure he'll look back one day the same way you did. I'm sorry you lost him Deltadawg. But he's in a better place man.

Lost mine back in 2003 when I was 29. Not a day goes by when I don't miss him. It does get easier, though. Praying for you and your family.

There's a reason they called his generation the greatest. I had 2 grandfathers that served in the navy during ww2. I'm sorry for your loss.

Tough thing to go through! Growing up in central Florida, my dad took me to my first college football game at Florida field! I've been hooked since! I was a senior at state when I lost my dad! Tough! Prayers are with you and family!

Praying for you and your family brother. 4 weeks ago my dad, who is 57, had a heart attack and had to have triple bypass surgery and that scared me to death. Just the thought of losing him was awful so I can't imagine how you must feel. May God's peace be with you.

From one Deltan to another, I am truly sorry.
I lost my Dad in 2008. He also joined the Navy at 17, was wounded and received the Purple Heart. I grew up going to MSU games with him. Really can't think of many games that we were not together.
Still tough. God bless you and your family.

My 90+ grandmother had to have that back in May. Broke it on her birthday. My advice is worth what you paid for it but really push her to take her rehab seriously. My grandmother didn't like it and fought it and I think that added a long time to her recovery.

Really sorry to hear that. Lost my Dad 14 years ago. The world has never been the same. We find a way to accept these things somehow. It'll be tough for awhile.

Lost my dad 2 1/2 years ago and it still stings. Some days ahead will be better than others. Dont fret. He's still right beside you. I feel my dads spirit with me all the time. Guess they just raised us right.

Take care. He raised you specifically for this day.

I know how you feel, bud.. I lost my dad a couple years ago. Toward the end, it was me dragging him to games, until he just couldn't do it anymore...

Deepest sympathies to you Deltadawg. Your Dad was a great American and you don't have to be a graduate to be a great Bulldog, which he obviously was. Take care and cherish the memories.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my dad a few years ago and he was also a WWII Pacific vet. Maybe this video can give you some comfort.

Thanks for the video, the taps got me. We were going through some of his stuff today and found a VHS tape and letter that they gave everyone at a reunion for his destroyer, somehow we found an old vhs player and plugged it in. The letter stated that the footage was filmed from a ship in their fleet and has all kinds of footage of battles shooting down planes, etc. Can't wait to get it on a dvd and share with my kids!

My thoughts are with you.

My dad was older (53) when I was born but he lived to 97. He wasn't a huge sports fan (huge poker and scotch fan) but I introduced him to MSU. He always wanted to know the score when I called from wherever I was watching the Dogs play. One of my favorite memories was coaxing him into the Valley Alcorn 60K game.

I fondly miss him often. You will do the same.

It'll get better. And most importantly, you will never ever forget.
