Killer version of a classic.

I saw the Stones at the Superdome in '89. Later that month we went to Atlanta to the Nascar race and we had never been to Georgia Tech's campus so we rode through to check it out. The stadium was lighted up so we just walked in to see what was happening and they were setting up for a Stones concert. I remember thinking that if I had gone to Tech the Stones would be playing on my campus. I've always had a little respect for Tech because of that.

From the best late night show in the history of television - live musicians, no dubbed voice, real singing and shit. Plus it had Wolfman Jack.

Try this. Stones being played by The Black Crowes with Luther Dickinson of North Mississippi All-Stars on guitar. You won't be disappointed.

Yeah. They've been around since the 70's. They started as a pub band and kind of hit it big in Australia and south east asia. They actually toured with all of the original members in in 2012.

Sadly, growing up, until AC/DC my Aussie music experience was limited to my Dad playing early Olivia Newton John over and over and over again and then he and his shipmates getting a bit blitzed and singing 'Tie Me Kangaroo Down' along with Waltzing Matilda (Best drinking national anthem ever). Thankfully Bon Scott removed those horrible memories.

Ok, well that's funny!

Hopefully I can help you appreciate some old school Aussie rock:

Here is the 44 Australian bands in my record collection; Ariel, Avalance, Ayers Rock, Airlord, Blackfeather, Buffalo, Bakery, Buster Brown, Chain, Copperwine, Coloured Balls, Cleves, Cold Chisel, Cloud Nine, Company Caine, Desert Rat, Fanny Adams, Finch, Fox, Geeza, Headband, Kahvas Jute, Lobby Loyde, Lizard, Madder Lake, Master's Apprentices, Mississippi, Mighty Kong, McPhee, Mackenzie Theory, Marshall Brothers Band, Pirana, Railroad Gin, Redhouse, Raw Deal, Rabbit, Sid Rumpo, Southern Cross, Spectrum, Taste, Karl Taylor, U Turn, Stevie Wright and Windfall.
I hope something in there can erase the memories of your dads version of Tie me kangaroo down. 😄

Awesome, but that jarred another scar on my high school days - Australia will be forever blamed for the BeeGees and the spread of Disco. And yes, my Dad put his headphones on, drank scotch and tried to sing along. That is a sound that cannot be unheard. Thanks for the band list my friend. Will look into them.

Ok, you've piqued my interest. There's an Australian rock band named Mississippi? I don't suppose you could share any of that could you?
Also, Australian or not, it doesn't get better than this.

Yeah there was, now remember we are talking early 70's so it's kind of late free love era. Please don't compare it to main stream rock.

As an Aussie I love ACDC but they left oz in pursuit of the big money in the UK, kind of BeeGee like in the fact that they were main stream.

I appreciate the guys who stayed home and performed for the love of the music and didn't chase the big money.

I like that. It's great when compared to other music of that era.
I can totally understand your appreciation of the bands that stayed home and played for the love of the music but I'm damn glad AC/DC chased the money.

Gentlemen, I give you perhaps the greatest of all time live cover of Led Zeppelin's Rock & Roll by Heart in 1980. Sends chills up my spine every time I listen to it. Be sure to check out the audience's roars after it's over.

Saw them live at The Gulf Coast Coliseum. Best concert I've ever been to, and I've seen Springsteen & Journey. At one point, they were joined on stage by Stevie Nicks & Grace Slick who happened to be in town, I guess. Audio quality is really poor on this one, but I thought you might appreciate the listen, Coach.

A young, big-eyed, pouty Stevie Nicks with the lightly hoarse voice does it for me.

Not good audio quality here - by man I love me some 70s Stevie Nicks.

this made my eyes water. that's hilarious.

My sister and I would sort of poke our heads out into the hallway and do one of those quiet laughs you do as a kid. The one that says - "We better not let him catch us laughing at him".

Mind you, these BeeGee's sing-along was later eclipsed by his enjoyment of Gladys Knight and the Pips, thankfully he only seemed to sing the Pips part. "Leaving...hum, hum, hum..."Midnight....Leaving....Georgia"

Good days they were.
