Supposedly he got bumped or was about to get bumped by Cole Gordon at 1B for the backup spot and thus saw little chance of being "the guy" there in his career. Rooker also, although I see Rooker's athleticism as something that hopefully makes him a long-term prospect in the outfield instead of at 1B.

This will happen every year. Each fall we will have more than 35, some will RS then others will have to transfer or just go to school. Nature of college baseball now.

Any idea why?

Brent Rooker and Cole Gordon are ahead of him. Gordon is a guy that was a draft prospect and had arm surgery. Rooker is extremely athletic and represented Tennessee in the National Power Showcase. Rooker has the athletic talent to be a five tool player if he can put everything together. Gordon might pitch for us some as well as play first base.
