A rape kit was done almost immediately when she could do it. At the time she didn't even know who he was. The investigator notified Winston a day before they actually started doing interviews so every interview was tainted. If he didn't do it, the police investigation sure made it look like they were covering up nothing.

If she set out to kill his career, she's one hell of a prognosticator. The whole thing happened while Winston was a redshirt and nearly a year before he ever took a snap. Yes, he was a big recruit, but no one guessed he'd be anywhere near as good as he was.

The crazy thing is, if Winston really is innocent, FSU and the Tallahassee PD did Winston a huge disservice by not following standard procedure. If they'd done it right and he was innocent this would be ancient history no one ever thought about nowadays (see Treon Harris).
