Has head coaching experience, and even made a few tourneys. Has been humbled by going back to an Assistant under Coach K. Would be an immediate upgrade and being a part of Duke for so long would have to be a benefit in both coaching and recruiting.

Any chance we'd look at him? Any chance he would take it?

I would consider Coach K's wife an improvement at this point...so I figure his Assistant has to be.*

I wanna throw a huge sum of money at Gregg marshall.

I don't want any assistant coach at this point

We aren't getting Marshall. I'm looking at realistic possibilities. Marshall has a great thing going, and doesn't need to leave. He's much like Mullen at this point IMO.

I would not be against a Capel hire. He may not have been ready his first go-round. The problem with any hire, as demonstrated repeatedly by SEC schools hiring coaches who had success elsewhere and then failed in the SEC, is the culture of this region in terms of basketball. Whether it stems from AAU ball, the region focusing fully on football and not basketball, or simply the failure of the South's educational processes to provide kids in this region the ability to develop their IQ in any sense, I don't know.

We are not getting Shaka Smart or Greg Marshall. Please quit with all the nonsense.

Although bringing Stans back would be a terrible idea we could always look at bringing back some of the old band members ?

Phil Cunningham- Head Coach Troy
Butch Pierre- Associate Head Coach Oklahoma State
Robert Kirby- Assistant Memphis

This guy has ties to New Orleans and is a good recruiter.

Butch Pierre or Robert Kirby. Draw either name out of a hat and go with it. Both are State guys with a proven track record as the best recruiters in the country. They would need great assistants. If we could somehow get Stan Jones back that would be great.

I would be for Pasternak and Stevens

I like Kirby

Kirby should have been the guy three years ago, IMO.

I have no problem with going all in on recruiting, and go Kirby or Pierre. Our best years came when we recruited best.

I want a HC that will turn us into a consistentally good shooting fundamentally sound program. I want Gonzaga 2.0.

I love that idea, but I'm not sure it's possible unless we start (successfully) recruiting outside the southeast.

And Australia. Gonzalo gets a ton of Aussies.

Here's an idea, put Dan Mullen and John Cohen on the search committee for the next basketball coach. Those two guys make better hires than anyone.

The problem is our AD is oblivious. I have zero confidence in him making a good hire. He could have hired either one of these guys before Ray, yet he didn't. I'd like to know what made him so infatuated with hiring Ray when Ray hadn't ever proved anything.

Ray has accomplished what he was hired for. He was never hired to win.

Ben Howland?
It's going to be tough to find someone good. Rob Jeter turned us down last time. Rob Jeter.

Kirby has some nephews or cousins that are all ballers from Memphis. Hire him we are in like flynn with those recruits.
