I'm betting on 2017. I realize there are contracts through 2026, but those can be renegotiated. It's not like the semifinals and final will stop being very desirable TV games.

Just think how perfect this year would have been:
1 Alabama
8 Michigan State (or Boise State, if a non-power team is guaranteed in)

4 TCU
5 Ohio State

3 Florida State
6 Baylor

2 Oregon
7 Mississippi State (any committee would almost certainly put us ahead of the other MSU if it mattered, based on comparing resumes)

Sure, it won't always be this neat, but people aren't going to feel too bad for team #9 because they'll almost always have 2 losses and not won their conference.

We don't need to see it. It's going to be great and better than the BCS. It still won't be as good as an 8-team playoff though.

They might go to a 6 team playoff first with the top two seeds getting a by.

Nightmare scenario has happened in year 1...

SEC will vote expansion. Whoever gets left out at 5 and 6 with legit arguments will vote expansion. Not sure what type of majority the Power 5 needs to pass new legislation now that we got autonomy. Guess I need to read up....
