The game starts at 1:00 PM CST on ESPN3 (online only).

The game is on Tulane's campus and this is the first time that Tulane's campus has had a football and basketball game at the same time on campus.

Tulane is 6-1 with their only loss coming to Wake Forest to begin the season.

This should be a fun game, and hopefully the Dawgs pull out a big win.

Still leads 26-23 after a double-dribble by Tulane.

Goodness, this defense is playing tough at times.

We cannot finish around the rim!

Very frustrating.

Halftime:

Tulane 28
MSU 26

Ended the half on a 4-minute scoring drought....these types of things need to end now.

On inability to get the ball in the post and finish will kill us come conference time. It's killing us today.

Can't get anything to fall. We have had good ball movement at times, but we can't make a shot. Our defense will play good for most of the shot clock and then give up an easy basket due to a breakdown in coverage, or an offensive rebound for an easy put back. Sloppy half, but we should win this game if we can just get some of these shots to start falling. Need to get the ball down low more to Ware.

Ware was only able to play 7 minutes due to getting two fouls.

It's concerning that Tulane can get the ball to the rim easier than we can. We are definitely improved from last year, but that is not saying much. We have length that allows us to defend well for a period of time. The only chance that we will have to beat some semi-good teams is hopefully catch them in and off-shooting night and hold them to low-scoring outputs. Having Sword out is killing us. Black and Fallou don't give us much of anything.

Tulane also plays a different type of offense than most. They have a good coach. But yeah...inexcusable for the way we're playing right now.

I'm sick of stark or our defenders that are trying to guard him

Political Hack
12-06-2014, 03:46 PM
Daniels turns the ball over and then the next trip picks up his dribble and has to call a TO against a 1 man trap... with under 5 minutes left. that can't happen.

Not a good loss at all.

It was WAY too easy for them to get a bucket when they needed one. We looked slow on defense when they drove to the basket. Disappointing loss to say the least.

Watching this team is hard. It looks like 'bury ball with worse athletes. Same problems: good defense, but cant manufacture open shots and cant shoot free throws. I hope we can fix this program soon.

While I'm disappointed like everyone else, let's not overstate the loss. The AAC is approximately as good as the SEC in basketball, and Tulane is 6-1 now. We aren't going to jump off bridges if we lose a road SEC game, and we shouldn't over this loss either.

Still sucks though. We were good enough to win this one and just didn't get it done.

Missed layups and missed free throws. Hit half of what you missed and you win by 10.

Everybody talks about how good of a defensive team we are, yet we let them penetrate to the hole and score at will when they needed buckets.

That is it. Make a few lay ups and free throws. No excuse for that from a Jr. High team much less supposed SEC players.

Everytime we needed a stop in the 2nd half, they scored. I can forgive shooting, but not defense. Pathetic effort

Apparently he's fine with that back recovery, per Ray, Sword has been dealing with either the flu or strep.

To me, it's not so much that we lost -- but how we beat ourselves with mistakes indicative of a young team when we aren't anywhere close to that. And I didn't see any single thing I can point to as a positive there. Just a miserable performance. We will generally shoot a lot better than that I think. But much like Stans last teams, these early losses can dagger a season -- and that's a big nail toward NIT hopes. Can't really downplay that aspect...

Today we weren't good on either end. We gave up a ton of easy points and its just really hard to watch a bunch of guys playing for us where none are shotmakers and where we turn the ball over with regularity due to sloppy passing. If we lose at Oregon State I'm pretty much ready to start looking toward baseball.

The thing that kills me is that our guys that seem to be able to create pretty well are too timid to do so very often(Ready, Daniels, Houston)... And Sword obviously isn't even close to back yet...Fred has shot pretty well, but he is more of a set guy that needs someone to pass/drive him open...

It's past time for someone to grow up and lead on the court. They don't have the youth excuse anymore...

Piss poor execution today . We have Oregon State and Florida State left in the non conference to build any sort of boost in the RPI. If we don't win either one of those game I don't see how we can be an NIT team as we are at best a .500 team in league play .

Ray hasn't won a true road game since his first SEC road game 2 years ago at Georgia when Jalen Steele was on fire making everything he threw up. It will be difficult for this team to win any games away from the Hump this year as well.

Today's not really a terrible loss. Tulane is now 6-1 and the AAC is about as good as the SEC. Obviously I hope we go 9-0 on the road in the SEC this year, but I don't think losing on the road to any SEC or AAC team (unless they're just godawful) is a "terrible loss."

I call it a terrible loss bc of the multiple misses at point blank, not being able to get stops in the 2nd half, and them whipping us on the boards.

They beat our effort. For us to have a chance at the nit, we can't lose in effort level

3 point shooting is going to haunt us all year. We are bad at it at home but we are horrendous on the road. It almost seems unfair that other teams have multiple players that can hit them and all we have is the occasional Fred Thomas 3 pointer. I'm pretty sure the difference in the game today was the 3 pointers. I'm sure they made at least 5 more of them than we did.
