It appears Florida is offering more, north of 4 bills.

Guarantee you its just another ploy to win a press conference. Why would Godfrey of all people be the first one to report this when the entire college football media is after the Florida story?

Maybe it's because Godfrey is an Ole Miss grad and Ole Miss let him know this, so that it would get out and Hugh Freeze would look like a savior when he turned it down?

I did find Freeze's answer about Florida last night hilarious. He said, "I have not heard from any other university."

Well, of course not because that would be illegal since your under contract and your season is ongoing. However, that doesn't mean that your agent hasn't heard from Florida.

It is questionable coming from Godfrey, but he'd also be in a position to know what's happening with Bjork and others behind the scenes. Bottom line: if the offer is real I think Hugh is gone. Which bums me out because I hope that moron sticks around for at least another year so we can stomp his ass in Starkville.

Hope he goes to FL and takes his staff and croots with him (except the ones we want)

I am convinced it is all about winning the press conference.

Foley keeps a lid on things

Sexton's fingerprints are all over this. Appears he's using Beeyork like a crack whore in a low budget porn movie.

Tend to agree about Sexton. Several major media sources have pegged the Colorado State coach as Foley's top candidate.

However, I'll say it again - I know first hand that a faction of UF alums want Freeze.

I have yet to see anyone not connected with UM report anything definitive about Freeze getting an actual offer from Florida. It just reeks of the same thing as the CJ Hampton "flipping your own commitment" deal.

I don't follow coaches' contracts but is 7.5 mil normal? It seems pretty high.

This smells like Hugh winning the press conference.

Yup. He has a big pc signing a new fat contract with a big smile on his face. Got to admit, smart p/r.

Yup

They went to Godfrey because everyone knows he has connections in the program, but also isn't a legitimate journalist.

If somone would have told Brett McMurphy, Pat Forde, or Bruce Feldmen, they would've tried to confirm the offer with multiple sources, which of course they couldn't do since it doesn't exist.

I'm sorry but why are most of you so anxious for Hugh to stay. I'm not saying he's a Tier 1 coach but neither is Mullen. He's done outstanding there, and while it looked terrible at first, has proven to have hired a very good staff. He's also outcoached Mullen in 2 of the 3 matchups.

Add that he's a plus recruiter and I'd be more than happy to see him move over to FL but I think the best OM could do would be to get an equivalent hire with a more than 50% chance they end up with someone worse.

I hope freeze leaves. If he does stay, I hope they overpay and it costs them wommack. Wommack is their coach that I fear the most

Agreed on Godfrey. The fact that Godfrey is a "journalist" shows just how the profession has changed. Now someone with a crayon, a 'puter, and a 1st grader's grasp of the English language can write about a football. Godfrey is an idiot and has no credibility at all.

+1 I'll take that 50/50 chance.

I'm pretty sure 4.2 mil is the ole miss new contract offer or that was originally planned. What gives now is how Sexton manipulates Bjork with Florida and bait. He ain't leaving.

You know what amazes me is all the talk about Hugh getting a raise and nothing nada about Mullen, who had the better season. Makes one think that they are putting more wood on their own fire , with all this talk.

DovaDawg

I told a co-worker the same thing this morning. Never let a good crisis go to waste. UM is using this to keep their name in the press and when Bucky "turns down" the Florida offer, UM will proclaim him a high profile coach along the lines of Miles and Saban. Win the press conference.

I kinda think Wommack is more the HC than Freeze. Without him Freeze would have been fired this season.

Just to play devil's advocate (I don't think he's going anywhere either), isn't it SOP pretty much anywhere to deny anything before a hire is made?
