The new coach had them much improved - they got to 6-6 but a bowl game is not guaranteed.

Board of Trustees at University of Alabama - which oversees Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Huntsville campuses - is expected to vote to end program. Led by Bear Bryant, Jr. (not kidding, his son is the President of the UA Board of Trustees), many think this is retaliation for Watson Brown turning Bear into the NCAA for cheating in the early 80s, which hastened his retirement and possibly death.

Conference USA requires its members to have a football team, so other UAB sports will be looking for a new conference home.

I read an article about this a month or so ago. There is a group of former players who played I the league who signed on to a letter denouncing the UA Board and claiming this was about to happen. The Board denied it. The fact that UA is afraid to have UAB be competive is just sad.

The UA BOT has been trying to starve their program out for years. The BOT wouldn't let them hire Jimbo Fisher on 2004. Wouldn't allow them to build a smaller on campus stadium, etc... Some real shady dealings.

I'd love to have their WR #1. He'll be able to go almost anywhere he wants.

Indeed it is very shady. But the town never supported the team.

I heard that he was helping Hill Denson at Belhaven and had left UAB. This was a few months back. Never heard one way or another.

Do they have a kicker who can make one over 37 yds? What about OL?

He made a 45 yarder yesterday. Dak didn't get laces out on 34 yarder.

This isn't a done deal with UAB. It's only an issue now because Gene Bartow passed away and the big Bama boosters didn't want to shut his program down while he was still around. If UAB boosters are willing to spend money to build a new stadium then the committee will vote in their favor. If not, UAB will lose their football program.

Just made a phone call..... The committee won't even meet. It's a done deal. The AD has already been let go for UAB.

Shit Bill Clark can coach.

No doubt. He probably will carry a pretty high price tag if someone is looking at him as a coordinator or assistant. Would like to have him though.

Exactly. Birmingham has never given a crap about UAB football.

I hate to hear this about UAB. It's just really unfair all the way around for them.

Yea this sucks. We've played them a bunch of times and even lost to them when they had Roddy White. They do badly need a new stadium though.
