I was on the road this week, so I had to rely on the Union-Recorder of Milledgeville for this week's game preview:

Last week's Baldwin High School football victory at Howard gave the Braves a 6-4 regular season record and clinched a GHSA Class AAAA State Playoff birth. Baldwin travels to Sylvester to face Worth County Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The Rams completed the regular season at 6-3. The South Georgia team loves the run more than the pass, as evidenced by their 2,665 rushing yards. Thirty-two touchdowns came on the ground, while just five were passing scores. Braves head football coach Lee Hannah said anything could happen in the playoffs. "I think we put ourselves in a winnable position in the bracket we are in," Hannah said. The Howard Huskies were a "run heavy" team also. Hannah said this Friday matchup is all about stopping the Ram rushing success at all costs. "We have to step up to the challenge and find out who is going to be the big dog standing up at the end of the night," the Braves head coach said. Worth County has fumbled the ball 15 times and lost 13 of those this season.

The Baldwin defense should be ready for more, considering Melieck Paschal forced a fumble that Chris Veal recovered and returned for a touchdown at Howard. "Creating turnovers is something we preach in practice everyday," Hannah said. "We try to live by it."
BHS has played several tight one-possession ball games this fall. That experience boosts playoff confidence. The Braves know how to fight.
"At the end of the day, this teaches adversity and how to battle through it," Hannah said. "That's what it's all about."

It's normal preparation this week before Baldwin hits the road Friday afternoon for a two and a half hour drive. "Nothing changes. Every game is big at this point," he said. "You have to attack it with the same mind set." Baldwin would love to slap the playoff monkey off their backs in Worth County. The first round exit has been a nemesis over the years. "(A win) would be huge for this program and where we are trying to get this program to go," Hannah said. The first-year head coach thanks his senior class for "buying what he is selling."
Tony Horton, Kentavious Thomas, Quondarius Holsey, Jalen Lumpkin, Shelton Graves and Trevan Gresham among others play hard for each other as teammates and brothers.

With a victory, Baldwin would face the winner of the Cartersville/White County game.

Good luck to Kentavious Thomas and the Baldwin Braves.
Hail State!

Thomas scored a TD in Baldwin's 17-7 win over Worth County. They travel to Cartersville to face the 10-1 Hurricanes in round 2.
Congrats "Pop" Thomas
