I guess there is no way to know if it would have made a difference, but a pitcher like Gentry has to be able to pitch low in the strike zone in order to be effective. Because I was watching from home, I got to see the replays of Gentry throwing pitches that were three inches above the knees and he was not getting the strike call. Cohen went off one time because of it.
To me, this was a big handicap for Gentry. It made him bring the ball up and that is a death sentence for a sinker ball pitcher.
