The NCAA is trying to grow the sport- something that should have been done 20 years ago- but instead they chose women's basketball

Will Title IX square off against money interests to grow baseball?

Athletic departments should be able to pick and choose which sports to cut without having to worry about losing scholarships in a sport which generates money. The schools should also be allowed to choose where they want their scholarships to be used. If State wants to cut track scholarships for more baseball scholarships, why does the NCAA say we can't do that. More reasons why the NCAA should be abolished.

...no scholarship money for college baseball players coupled with the fact wealthy alumni from American colleges & universities would rather donate to football stadiums, gymnasiums & olympic-sized swimming pools than to baseball parks.

That's why you are seeing shitty parks & shitty crowds.

ESPN is trying to sell a flawed product when they try to sell college baseball.

But at least they (ESPN) are making an attempt to lend college baseball a degree of respectability, yet are probably losing advertising revenue in the process.

But as the saying goes, baby steps.

That's horse shit right there. The baseball postseason product is amazing. People just don't know about it. And the ones that do, they think that because the very best talent is getting drafted, that they aren't seeing good baseball.

At the very least, NCAA baseball is still amateur. Collegiate/Student-Athlete/etc. in every sense of the words. The bullshit that moonlights as amateur football and basketball, while entertaining, makes a complete mockery of collegiate sports. The MLB has its shit together on everything except steroids. The NFL and NBA are laughing at the NCAA, and in the long term, will pay the price for it.

You are already seeing an increase in baseball popularity again.

..hell are you picking an argument with me over an observation Drugdog made.

Shitty parks + shitty crowds = flawed product.

Cal-State Fullerton, one of the most storied programs in college baseball, plays in a 3rd world dump.

And when ESPN shows Cal-State Fullerton games (like they have the last 2 nights), it's gives the sport a blackeye.

I like college baseball & you like college baseball, but when you like college baseball, you are in a small minority of sports enthusiasts.
