It's an ancient phrase, dating back to the Days of Powe. It's a traditional way for Ole Miss players to recognize each other in a large group of people who've been to college. If they think they've spotted one another, one simply shouts:

Hey! You Don't Read!

That way, they know for sure who the other is because they obviously cannot read the name tag.
