View Full Version : Another cheesy hypothetical: would you take 13 wins total right now, guaranteed..

.. but no more than that?

That would mean an Atlanta trip and either an SEC championship or a playoff victory, but little if any chance to be the first Playoff champion. I'm assuming 11-1 regular season and a loss in the SECCG leaves MSU out of the playoff.

I don't know. Would you take a kick in the balls from a Clydesdale in the morning if it meant Mila Kunis would give you a hummer that night? I hate hypotheticals. Just deal with what we still have possible and before us. If or when one thing is eliminated focus on what is still attainable. Back in August I'm sure most would take a 10-2 season. Now, that would be a let down.

An undefeated regular season or an SEC championship aren't trivial things. I guess to rephrase the question, would you swap one or both of those for a 25-50% chance to win the first ever Playoff?

Probably comes down to your level of risk aversion.

I want a national title in my lifetime. We have a shot this year. Why would I guarantee we don't do that, especially since if I don't take the 13 wins, we still have a pretty good shot at winning the conference title. You're asking for a guaranteed something instead of a pretty good shot at that something plus much more.

Loss at Bama and still be in top four. Bama goes to Atlanta. State wins first round playoff for win #12, win championship game for #13 so yea, will take that now

no. that's like asking if you'd settle for 3rd base with the prom queen knowing it's your only shot to ever hit a home run with her.

A loss at Bama and a win at UM is actually what I expect to happen. Thirteen wins would do the trick in this scenario...
