Virginia's pitching has been deadly allowing one run in 18 innings.
Virginia's bats have been dead getting four runs in 18 innings against weak opposition.

We aren't the 1927 Yankees, but our hitting is better than what is in Charlottesville. It could be a very good SR.

I am thinking the same thing. Obviously, we hope the team doesn't start looking ahead...but we can! Virginia is very beatable in my opinion. They also play in a decent sized park it seems like, which will be familiar for us. We may not win it, but I will feel pretty good about our chances up there going in.

From their website:

Virginia opened the door on its sparkling new multi-million dollar facility for the 2002 season. With a seating capacity of 2000 and field dimensions of 335-377-408-377-352 (left-right), Davenport showcases as one of the finest collegiate baseball facilities in the nation.

Very similar in size to The Dude.

Dudy Noble:

Field dimensions LF: 330, LC: 376, CF: 390, RC: 374, RF: 326

So it's an even bigger all around field than Dudy Noble.

if anyone is going next weekend, charlotesville is a fantastic college town. I recommend it highly. We can take over that place easily. Ennis will be there because, obviously, the banjos of west virginia are so close.

I'd fear tickets may be hard to come by since their sparkling facility seats a whopping 2,000.

I think looking at 2 games to gain any perspective is not very smart.

Speaking of dead bats, Oregon has 5 hits in two games.

To Will: I know two games is not a valid statistical sample, but it is post-season and the noose can get tight. Maybe Virginia players have the Polk disease and feel pressure from playing before such massive crowds.

I agree to an extent, but if UVA stays that cold next weekend, you can throw the stat sheet out the window. If it was a full season you'd have a great point, but we only need to beat them twice next weekend, so how they've played lately has more of an impact than how they played a month ago. UVA's pitching looks stout though. Let's just hope they continue to slump.

If Virginia is struggling with this level of competition I can ASSURE you they will against us.
They look very beatable.

The ACC is no slouch conference.

Virginia led the conference in batting average, on-base percentage, and most telling slugging percentage. They led THAT conference in slugging in their monster park.

They are averaging just over 8 runs a game.

Pitching they are 3rd in ERA and have given up the least amount of walks, and 2nd is not even close.

I hate having to play them. Wish we were heading West.

I can't wait to play them.
