["MSU defense is not great, i feel we can move the ball. There D has been gashed at times and often."]

It really is a belief among other fans. The stats are totally deceptive here. We hae one of the best defensese in the country and its getting better (Redmond coming into his own.)

I just refer to advanced metrics that discount garbage yards and scores to give a true gauge of performance.

Wow - A&M's D is better than UK's D based on the advanced stats.

The problem is.... If you can't stop the run (and we can't)... And they run the ball well (and they do)... The game becomes pretty darned easy for the opposing team. Just line up. Blow us off the ball and profit.

MSU will run for another 300+ yards on us... And we're just gonna have to bend over and take it. We're just not there defensively yet.

This guy gets it and about the only voice of reason on that board.

I hope they all continue to think that AND that we can't play pass defense.

This is the only valuable data source to use. I'm not real sure why they took the individual S (efficiency) and P (explosiveness) components out of the table they illustrate, but the only "cliche" about our defense that is based in some proof is our propensity to allow explosive plays. We aren't terrible, we just aren't at the same elite level we are in almost all other metrics.

Wow, we are #1 in the country in offense according to that website, too

I concur.
