Wow, that's a loser mantality. I don't see us moving from 1 and in fact I see the top 3 staying the same. Especially considering FSU is using an Ineligible player and they know it. I agree with Clay Travis in the fact that FSU is involved with the second worst scandal in college football history next to Penn State. It's a travisity that they are backing a known liar just because he plays football well. Fisher is banking his chips on a sinking ship and Winston will be thrown out of FSU before even getting to the playoff.

Dude, that was blatant PI. It really would have been a travesty if they did not call that. I agree with everything else you just posted, though. FSU should have lost that game. They shouldn't jump us, but it wouldn't surprise me if they do. There is no reason Ole Miss should move up, but some pollsters just look at scores and see a blow out tonight.

Call it a loser mentality if you want to but this is a legitimate question. The voters caught some heat for jumping us above them last week even though I felt we deserved it. I still think we deserve to keep our ranking. I think we would curb stomp both those teams if we played them. But what I think doesn't matter. We were idle tonight. #2 won a game against a top 5 team. #3 ran up the score late to make their win look better than it was. A #3 team that did get a couple first place votes. It is entirely possible that FSU, who is undefeated, could possibly jump back to #1. I give it 50/50 odds. If they do jump us then you have to wonder how far we fall. Personally, I don't think it would be past #2, but I thought I would pose the question to get your opinion.

I don't really care about rankings at this point. Winning the next game is FAR more important than rankings 8 weeks into the season. Still a lot of football left to be played.

With that said, since you asked the question... The variables that MIGHT affect us negatively are:
1. People have realized Bama is good (although they had a pretty embarrassing win last week against Arky 14-13... they came pissed off today) - Advantage OM
2. A&M has quit - push for us and OM
3. FSU may not have had the caliper wins we have had, but they did just beat a good ND team. That may push them back to No. 1

Voters are swayed a lot more by happenings "in the moment" and since we had a bye week and FSU played a top 5 team, that may sway them to No. 1. OM should remain unchanged. They struggled offensively most of the game and only had 1 scoring drive over 50 yards. Their defense still looked "dominant," but UT's offense is ranked 109. I expect they should remain at No. 3.

But really, rankings midway through the season DO NOT MATTER. Keep winning games, and set yourself up for success at the end of the season. At this point, that's what matters.

We'll definitely be #1. FSU will only pass us if around 30 voters swap us. Those 30 voters wouldn't have put us #1 in the first place if they were just going to switch FSU back so easily.

Remember, FSU is the 180-degree opposite of a media darling. Usually teams with 22-game winning streaks don't lose their #1 ranking, even if they deserve to. We got the #1 ranking not just because we deserve it, but because a lot of voters are absolutely disgusted by Florida State and their fanbase.
