LHP Ethan Small from Lexington Tenn. He is class of 2015. He is 6-3 175 and it rated by PG as #2 lefty in Tenn behind Trysten Barlow who is also committed to us. Small is the 18th commit for 2015. He also plays for the Dulin Dodger team in the summer.

This guy is a great find. His Jupiter numbers were awesome. I heard he's being looked at to get drafted

Seems like TN has become quite the recruiting ground for us.

Just curious for anyone who knows, on average, how many kids does a baseball program sign per year? And how many scholarships on average can a program afford to split up between a signing class?

Wow. If we can just get all of these guys on campus, we're going to have a dominant team.

"Numbers that work themselves out". Cohen finds ways to get great players here -- and we are creative in how we do it. There's a reason team GPA has gone through the roof since he got here...

The entire baseball team shares 11.7 athletic scholarships. In theory, they split about 4 per class. In reality, we have a ton of "walk ons" that we never know about that are on academic/leadership aid, in many cases getting higher percentage scholarships than the "baseball" scholly guys. Cohen treats them all the same -- "commits" and "signs" them all the same giving them all the same highschool "day in the sun" -- then gives them all equal chances to play. The only guys we ever "know" the scholarship situation with are JUCO walk-ons, who can redshirt and not count against our numbers -- and the only reason we "know" that is purely procedural...

We "committed" this guy -- 2 weeks later, he's throwing consistently in the low 90s and having PG profiles written on him. He's got Girodo written all over him -- with a little better projectability on his fastball...
