Could it be that Holloway's speed is likely to affect defenses more now that we are deeper in the season? Holloway is virtually fresh and still running at track speeds while most starting defensive players are running a step slow after the physicality of five or six weeks of tackle football. Mullen may have been on to something again. Holloway may be the best backup RB to JRob. Your thoughts?

Bound to a challenge to defensive coordinators to have personnel on the field capable beating Holloway to the edge and also stopping Robinson and Prescott up the middle. I.E., if you're fast enough to catch Holloway, you're not going to be big enough to tackle the other two. If you can tackle Robinson/Prescott, you can't catch Holloway.

I thought Holloway was a bust. He isn't. He can fly and if used right he should make our other weapons even more dangerous..

Just maybe a few of those up the middle early season runs were video bait....

Against LSU and aTm he ran off tackle and had some success.

I was surprised with Holloway, but, after watching him against A&M, it makes perfect sense why Dan moved him to running back. A&M was piling up their defense in the middle of the field to stop Dakman and Robinson, and the edges were left wide open. All we had to do was have a person that could get to it.

Holloway is basically an Ole Miss running back.

Only as a change of pace. when the opportunity presents itself he could be a factor

Why must some of you insist on devaluing Holloway? How many other players on our team can bust a 50 yard run vs aTm from running a simple sweep? He's the only one just about and that run was a back breaker. He's fast as hell and pound for pound one of the toughest players on the field. He isn't "basically an Ole Miss running back". He's an MSU specialist back and he's pretty damn good for being asked to change positions. He's only a sophomore correct? Show respect.

Correct. Only in the 2nd half after Dak and Jrob have been pounding the defense. Bring him in and maybe he can hit a homerun.

He's obviously tough. I thought that guy from Bama killed him on that hit, but he walked off . Also he hasn't really been affected .

Ontario Mccalebb clone, except maybe slightly more top-end speed. Give him the smallest crease, and he's gone.

I like the fact they are running him through creases rather then straight up the middle. He certainly can be a difference maker with our blocking scheme and his speed.

Holloway should never have more than 6-8 touches. Bring him in on some two back sets. Everyone is looking for Dak or Jrob up the middle but boom, Hollaway to the outside, if our WR's can pick up 1 or 2 key blocks, SEE YA!

This.

Call me an ass if you want, but i ain't getting excited about one big run. And he still got caught. I would much rather JRob get every one of his carries and get his 6+ yards per carry than to have one 50 yard run every 60 touches for Holloway. Just sayin. Not trying to be mean

He wasn't 'caught,' just like Robinson wasn't caught on his long run. When a defender is ahead of you and has an angle on you, it is not the same as being caught from behind.

Holloway is a burner; once he's past you, you aren't catching him.

Holloway had 76 yards on 5 carries. I don't know why that's considered a bad thing.

One of the Florida Recruiting Analysts said that his senior season, he was one of the fastest football players in Florida and he was faster than Dexter McCluster was in high school. I think he said there was one football player in FL that was faster than Holloway and he was a track star.

I just think it's a flash in the pan, and I would rather have JRob get an extra 6-8 carries per game at 6+ yards per carry, than seeing those carries go to a guy that can't break an arm tackle in hopes that he finally busts one for a long gain. Didn't say it was bad that he had several yards vs A&M. I'm glad he makes the most of his touches. Doesn't mean I have to like that he is getting so many of them. Just my opinion.

Holloway is a track guy- but that's useful in football sometimes. If he can catch some screen passes like Perkins did that would be something that would make us that much more dangerous. Perkins to me was at his best when we had Ballard and we used him in the screen game. I think Holloway could be used in a similar fashion.

I don't think Holloway needs the D to be a step slow. He just needs blockers and an open lane to run through. Before A&M, we really hadn't given him that and I'm not sure how often we will. What we really need is for him to be effective in the screen game and on short passes. It will be a lot easier to get the ball to him in space with those plays. Not sure if we're holding that back or if the coaches don't trust him to catch the ball.
