That's an interesting way to look at it.

All this graph shows is a LOOSE correlation between on-the-field results and recruiting. Speaks nothing to causation, which is the real crux of the argument.

Recruiting is like the first inning of a baseball game. Sure, it matters, but you still got 8 innings to play.

I think "Stars Matter", if the player has a good work ethic, is a team player, has good character and wants to be the best he can be.

True, and I agree 100%.

But that's part of the problem- the recruiting services very rarely look at that.

Now THAT is an interesting analogy. Never thought about it like that but it's a pretty good comparison. Just ask the Detroit Tigers.

No they dont. Rhey tell you who the top teams arr recruiting.

Its called inductive logic.

Goes like this:
who is bama recruiting?
The best players in the country.
Therfore. They are rated that way.
And whala guess who is landing the five star players?
Now. See texas. They won big. Their recruits were rated highly.
But they began to lose.
Funny, the coach disnt change.

They dont really matter because were winning with 2 and 3 stars. TSUN isnt with 4 and 5's. Plus our guys come in with a chip on their shoulder, theirs come in as prima donnas.

I like the Max Howell quote:

"You can lose with a bunch of 5*, but you can't win with none."
