You speak the truth, lately he's been hot with the bat but cold with the glove.

Wes Rea is better defensively than Katz or Lankford. Tyler Beede made second team All-SEC? What does he have to do? He's 14-0 I think.

Wasn't Lamkford the guy who went Bill Buckner on us?

Yes indeed he was. Right through the wickets.

Frazier got absolutely robbed. Here are his stats vs. the two doufuses that were voted ahead of him.

I, too, thought that it was a joke when I first saw it. But, then I read Bonner's article on it to get some perspective in SEC play- changed my mind a little bit. I still think Frazier should have been on 2nd team, at the very least- but it wasn't as glaring as I originally thought.

Well maybe there needs to be some criteria for what makes you an all-SEC selection. Is it the best ball player? The best SEC only stats? The best overall season stats? Clearly here it was who had the best SEC only stats. But there are a few problems - 1. Frazier played against the toughest schedule of any of them. 2. Fraizer went through a slump early on in the SEC schedule that tempered his numbers but it obviously wasn't that he couldn't hit SEC pitching, he always had and did so in the back half of the schedule. 3. If the reason MSU is where we are today with a top 10 RPI, then the non-conference had a lot to do with it and Frazier's stats were accumulated while beating those good non-conference teams....but that didn't count here. 4. if SEC stats are all that matter, then league batting title, HR title, ERA title, etc. should be based only on SEC stats...but they aren't.

That should be the first thing that is determined and set it stone.

Overall, I completely agree with you. I was simply pointing out that it was closer than I originally thought.

This right here.

Reynolds vs Frazier - Frazier's avg is higher but take a gander at the OBP. If Frazier had approached the plate this year like he did last year he would have been a no doubt 2nd teamer. But he cut his walks by over 50% and in SEC play your leadoff needs to get on base at least at a .400 clip but really should be higher.

White vs Frazier - look at the SEC stats. Both are about even defensively but White stepped the **** up when it counted.

So all in all I'd say Frazier is these guys equal but he definitely did not get robbed, and they did put him in there for the defense team.

ETA I think the lack of pitching spots on the All SEC is absurd. At least 4 SP and 2 RP per team is needed

I thought the voting was based on the position you play in the field, not your place in the batting order.

If the team were about what you did and not who you are(or supposed to be) and who you play for then J Jones shouldn't be co-second team with pirtle. Pirtle has better stats overall, and in the league games. Jones, however is the much better draft propect and that obviously got him some extra votes.
