It's a combo of poor development, attrition of highly ranked players, and over-rated classes.

Doesn't exactly flatter us, though I'm sure our #'s are skewed badly by the Croom years.

I think it reflects worse on them since what it is is a comparison of recruiting rankings to draft picks, and they usually have the higher-rated recruiting class. Plus, this doesn't give us credit for former players similar to Market and Tubby now who have been outstanding development jobs by our staff but don't have the measurables to play in the League.

What's also interesting is that we have both had the same numbers of draftees the last 10 years, even though they "Croot" so much better

Yep. I'd like to see these numbers more for the past five or so years.

The numbers will look very different for us when the 45th ranked 2011 class gets several players to the NFL.

The bottom line is that the metric is terrible. According to this study,

Not Drafted = Failure
Drafted = Success

We've had plenty of success stories that weren't necessarily drafted.

Pretty tough class to pass. What's the % of ncaa football players to get drafted?

If you are saying across the board, my guess would be around 1%. This is including all divisions.

The deeper message here is to recruits. Highly rated recruits don't care about undrafted success stories. They care about getting to the NFL, and by the historical numbers, a recruit has a better probability of improvement/development at State than at OM.

This hits the nail on the head. They're the ones tossing the "our 'crootin classes are WAY much better than Moo U" hot garbage everywhere. But we're still putting just as many players in the NFL? That's pretty much all you need to look at.
