Play Calling

Excellent play calling last night by Mullen. He showed last night that he can be an Elite coach when he has his type of personnel on offense and he is calling all the plays. There is no ceiling!

Yup! Can't argue with anything Dan did at all. The last part of the 4th quarter was a bit crazy, but we have no reason to complain at all.

It is easy to forget that Dan jumped into head coaching in his 30's, in the SEC, and at a then Croomtastic MSU. That's a steep learning curve. Now, he has his personnel and a firm foundation as a coach. The sky is the limit. Dan is the man and we are damn lucky to have him.

the blocking schemes were unreal. Man, I'm going to miss Dillon Day. that long pass to Bear that set up the short TDd by JROb was a perfect blocking scheme. They shifted the pocket slightly to the left and pulled an OG to seal that side of the pocket. Dak had all day with Bear one on one on a post route.

Dan went brain dead the last 4 minutes of the game. We see him stress that the players have to play for the full 60 minutes,, but Dan there is a flip side of the coin to that statement. YOU HAVE TO COACH COMPETENTLY FOR THE FULL SIXTY MINUTES TOO.

1st down at the LSU 12 or so,,,under 4 minutes left in game... Josh R and the 1st string OL have been gashing LSU. Where were they? you had your 2nd and 3rd string rb in behind your 2nd string OL. we could have been up 41 to 18 with about 3+ minutes left in the game.

Then we had our 3rd string DL in rushing 3 players in prevent defense last several series....Nick James is not a pass rusher...he is a run stopping DL. Where was Preston and Chris Jones rushing the passer?. And then back to our 2nd string Ol whose center hikes the ball way over Daks head and LSU gets the ball. BANG... prevent defense with backups rushing 3 gets mauled for quick td strike. And then again 3man backup rush in prevent defense giving up another TD. Then same defense again at the end of the game...... One hail mary completion away from losing a game. that we dominated...all because of your insane continual insistence on getting in as many backups as you can into the game. If LSU had not unsuccessfully gone for 2 twice and had taken the extra point instead, they could have had a quick down and out completion,run out of bounds for a field goal attempt on last play of the game to tie and a whole new ball game. the game was needlessly endangered at the end because of your coaching.

That was the poorest end of game coaching I have seen in a long time. Dan put us in the of losing that game on the last pass because of his bonehead braindead insistence on subbing players. I can live with the ultra conservative offensive play calling at the end of the game. going for it on 4th down deep in LSU territory. But play your guys who have won the game for you. Stop it Dan. STOP IT. WISE UP AND STOP IT.There is a time to play your subs,,, but did you forget quarter 4 of last years LSU game...where we gave up 4 TDs??? or the Auburn game where your prevent defense prevented us from winning??? STOP IT and coach WISELY for the full 60 minutes.....

Disagree all you want. The offensive play calling was outstanding for 3.8 quarters. We got a little too conservative in the 4th, but we won. That was just as much a personnel issue though as it was the play calling.

agreed. and we were saving hits on Dak and JRob too. We left healthy and won the game. Brilliant play calling offensively.

I guess this thread was as good of a place as any to get that rant out, but personnel decisions are not offensive play calling. Defensive personnel settings are not play calling either... especially when you're talking about the "offensive" play calling. Game management is more than just "play calling." But the "play calling" was brilliant.

I gaurantee you Chavis wanted to pull his damn hair out 99% of the game last night.
