Unfortunately, nothing will come of this because children don't vote.

Can hear the headlines coming...

NFL too violent and it's leading to violence off the field.

Apparently it's over him using a switch to spank his kid.

His other kid was killed by his baby mama's boyfriend.

Smitty, if that's accurate, someone needs to take a switch to the American Justice system.

Sounds to me like he was indicted to spank his son with his version of the wooden spoon.
And goat, if you're insinuating he killed his kid or that the death of his kid means he beats his children or something, read up. Couldn't be more off base with that case

I agree. Peterson has come out and said "I didn't intend on causing the injuries caused" or something like that. Sounds like he whipped his kid with a switch and it cut his kid's ass or leg or something. Took it a little too far I guess.

If that had always been a crime, my parents would have been indicted too. I don't know all the facts, so I won't say whether this is a legit indictment or not....but there is no doubt that our country has turned in to a giant vag regardless.

Read up on it. Peterson went way too far. He lost it on the 4 year old for pushing down his brother/sister while playing a video game. Peterson grabbed a branch from a tree and proceeded to whip the boy so bad he put marks all over his back, thighs, face and groin. Peterson felt so guilty about it he text baby momma right afterwards and tried to explain what he did before she saw the boy. Again read what Peterson text her. Even Peterson says he lost it and went too far.

Exactly. I firmly believe in spanking and unfortunately I have to spank my 3 year old daily. I can't count the number of times I've been spanked with a switch or wooden spoon but NEVER was the skin broken. Peterson abused that kid. Period. The kid didnt want to say anything because said " I don't want daddy to punch me in the face". He also said his daddy punished him on his wiener. Whatever that means and I really don't want to know. Look at the pictures of the kids legs and back and think most will agree that this "punishment" should be classified as abuse

So would this fall under the new domestic violence policy?

Growing up, mostly in rural Alabama, on my grandfather's farm. I quickly learned the term "Do you want to go cut a switch?" I immediately became very obedient. I knew what cutting a switch meant, and, on at least one occasion, I had to go back and cut a thicker switch. All it took was one switching that you learned that nothing burned and hurt so much as having to go cut your own switch, then be switched by your grandfather. In remembering back, there was once when I was about 6 and my grandmother and I were out at the barn milking the cows early one morning, when my grandfather came down out of the hayloft where he had been throwing feed down to the cows angry as Hell at me. He thought had heard me sassing my grandmother and took me by the arm and escorted me, crying, to the crepe myrtle bush and made me cut my own switch. He handed me his bone handled pocket knife and I cut one. He said "that won't make you remember, now cut a thicker one!" He then made me drop my pants and switched me about 10-12 times. It raised welts, even a little blood, and I felt it for a couple of days. Thereafter, all my grandfather ever had to do was ask me that question and I immediately straightened up. I personally think a little corporal punishment to straighten out a child is necessary!

That's what's being reported. Sounds to me like a DA looking to make headlines and get votes. So stupid. If getting whipped with a switch is child abuse, then I'd guess every one of us on this board had child abusers for parents.

We have not had a justice system for many years now. We have a legal system which is no longer a search for truth. It is now a search for the best legal precedent.

If you have to spank your three year old daily, then spanking is not an effective form of punishment for your child.

You think that "every one of us on this board" was whipped with a switch as a child? I realize I come from a "snobby" suburb, but I've never heard of anyone being whipped with a switch as a child, much less myself...

No problem with a switch whipping. I do have a problem when the kid is covered in welts a week later including his genitals

I'm from Starkville and never got whipped with a switch. Hands, belts, and what my sister and I called the green paddle, but never a switch. And never something that hurt for more than 30 min or an hour afterwards.

Madison. Not that I ever took a survey or anything, but I don't remember anyone ever talking about switches.

I of course could be forgetting some or just coincidentally hung out with unswitched people -- I was mostly just taking issue with the point that "everyone" gets whipped with a switch, not trying to assert that it's uncommon.

I didn't actually know anyone my age that got whipped with one (at least that I know of). All I ever heard about was my parents and aunts and uncles talking about getting switched when they were kids.

Thanks for the parenting tip Dr. Phil ** I really don't need you telling me how to raise my child. Thanks though
