Find this a little interesting, considering TSUN opponent Vandy lost by 30 to a Temple team that has gone 5-18 the past 2 seasons, and is this week an underdog at home to Navy.

Of course, UAB trounced Troy 48-10.

Both of us should cover...but I don't bet on lines as high as 29, regardless of team. It would tickle me to death if OM got beat by Vandy and started circling the drain.

If TSUN doesn't come within 7 of covering, does the bloom finally come of the rose? I know Vandy sucks this year, but I've just got this sneaking feeling they're gonna bring it this Saturday, maybe even pull the upset.

Am I crazy?

I'm afraid you may be.

Vandy sucks big time. Mason will be fired after next season if not sooner.

And no, Ole miss will not lose the hype with a win, regardless of how close it is or how bad their opponent is. The bottom line is, they will have to start losing some games, or the "bloom" will last into the winter. I think the OM team struggles so much with character, that one bad loss could cause an implosion though. So a perfect scenario would be for them to lose to Vandy or ULL, and then watch them tailspin throu the SEC season throwing each other under the bus. Freeze would bash them, they'd bash each other, it would be horrifically glorious

We'll cover. UAB may be better, but I doubt they stay within 30. JMO. If we continue to run the HUNH like I hope we do and make it our permanent offense, we will hang some points on folks.

Maybe it's wishful thinking. But Vandy committed 7 t/o's, -5 overall. That represents, on average, a 40-point swing in head-to-head (-4 for team committing and +4 for team receiving per t/o). Can TSUN expect a t/o advantage vs Vandy with CBS at the helm? Maybe, if Vandy is that over-matched athletically.

I'm hoping the 7 t/o thing was a huge anomaly, and that the new kids at Vandy are smart enough to learn very quickly from their mistakes. Also hoping the humiliation they suffered Thursday serves to motivate them, and lull TSUN into a false sense of security.

Damn, how fun would it be to witness an Ole Miss crash & burn Saturday after we take it to UAB?

I'd love for tsun to be 7-3 going into the 4th quarter w/ Vandy. Oh, the joy it would bring.

I would be interested who Vegas would favor between us & Ole Miss right now on a neutral field.

I have always wished that Vegas put out poll the same way the AP & Coaches do. I think it would be very interesting.

If they don't score 50+ and hold Vandy under 14...they underperformed IMO

Should be a 56-7 type game if OM is who they say they are

That's not exactly how this line thing works.

Example. Nebraska wollopped FAU 55-7 (48 point victory). Alabama plays FAU this week but is only favored by 40.5. That doesn't mean Vegas thinks Alabama is worse than Nebraska or even a close team in anyway.
Or, UAB beat Troy 48-10 (38 point victory). This week Duke plays Troy and is only favored by 19. This doesn't mean Vegas thinks UAB would kill Duke or that it would even be a close game. In fact, looking at power polls Duke would probably be a double digit favorite over UAB and Alabama would be a double digit favorite over Nebraska.

I've been following a few Vegas polls/power ratings for years. Some of the different books put out their own Top 25 polls, they just don't seem to get a lot of press. Surprise, Surprise, most of them were higher on us than the "informed" media.

These are preseason but will likely be updated by tomorrow:

It kinda does. These lines are set to encourage betting trends. Vegas experts set that, but do try to base it, at least in part on projected scores, then manipulate the odds depending on betting trends, projected weather, injuries, etc. In any case, the odds are usually fairly close, even if they are influenced greatly by the public's betting.

Actually I should have said, "point spreads" or, "lines" rather than, "odds", but you know what I mean.

Vandy is dog shit.. this isnt james franklin who kept it close. This team is horrible and even with Bo dirt being the same, they can score pretty easy you have to think and the bears defense will feast on that offense.

We will cover simply because our offense will put up points, week 1 is over and we will get past those few hiccups we had in the 1st quarter. Our defense is badass and would not surprise me uab does not score 10 points.
