2 things so far:
1) A&M's OLine and receivers are still very good. Receivers as a whole may be better.
2) I'm wondering if SC was a little over rated. So far I haven't seen a whole lot of things that would make me say (wow how can we stop that!). However, I have seen a lot of that from A&M.

I know it is early, and the old ball coach can regroup at half time.

This is the problem with preseason rankings. The media weighs last season to heavily and over looks anything that isn't obvious. Basically they see if you have your QB back and some offensive playmakers, but after that, they aren't able to fully evaluate teams. If you have an o-line issue or are replacing your d-line and dbs, people like Barrett Sallee don't understand the game well enough to weight that in.

Why they thought football fans wanted more "scoring" is beyond me. It's just too predictable for any excitement. Legal big hits are now flagged. Not too long ago a 31-28 game was a close fairly high scoring exciting game. Now everything is 45-42.

That shouldn't matter in Spurrier's offense. They should be feeding Mike Davis then going play action off it. Hell, Spurrier has pretty much never needed a dual threat QB. The problem is that Thompson is soft and a dumbass. He stepped out of bounds for a loss to avoid a hit when he could've just flipped it forwards for an incompletion, saving the yards. Then you saw him panic on that drive to end the half, grounding the ball, instead of taking the sack. The guy just sucks. No way around it.

The key is you have to get push from your d-tackles and blitz up the middle. The ball is gone before any pressure can come from the outside.

Offense is good but defense sucks. We didn't learn anything about A&M that we didn't already know. To put it another way, had A&M played Boise and Ole Miss played USC, our comments would be reversed about both teams. USC is much worse then people thought. A defense that can tackle (like ours) will slow A&M down. We will beat them in Starkville.
