I think it is held by Ole Miss at 62,657 or is the USM vs MSU in jackson still the record? Can we do it this year at all?

Correct. It is was for Vally/Alcorn in Jackson back when Jerry Rice was playing. I think it was somewhere around 65,000.

According to an article in Mississippi Sports Magazine (so take it for what it's worth) there's debate over the official attendance of that game, but the record is definitely 64,000+

The 1984 Mississippi Valley ? Alcorn State game: At that point in the season both teams were undefeated. The Totten-Rice combination, along with heavy media coverage surrounding the game, results in a capacity crowd at the stadium above 64,000. (Discrepancies in the attendance figures exist, but many claim the crowd was larger than that of the ?81? USM-MSU game [64,112]).
I added the bolded part.

I was at that game- that stadium couldn't have held another person.

There were people sitting on the steps on every row between each section- it was nuts
