Curious if you folks have ever had a sub-par batch.

Woodford Reserve is one of my favorite bourbons. But this bottle I got recently is not up to par. It's not awful. Just not quite what I expect.

I've sent back wine at a table before. never had a bad bottle of liquor though.

Very very rare with liquor b/c there is little to no depreciation in a sealed glass bottle unless it years older than it's supposed to be. Wine going bad is fairly common and it's due to the cork 99% of the time. That's why at a "nice restaurant" the server has to present the bottle & cork to the host for inspection before he pours the table. That's also why we're now seeing more fake corks or screw off tops on wine (even the high end stuff). I know some high-end bourbons are corked. If they are, a bad cork could absolutely spoil a bottle.
