I work with a USM grad, and he bet me $25 bucks that USM would cover 24 points. Think I'm safe?

Well, at least 1 of their 10 fans can see reality. The others.....holy. shit. And we share the same state with them. 30 is a BIG line, but I still think we cover that pretty easy. My favorite response was the clown who said he thinks they'll hold us under 30. We may have 50 by half. No way it's under 30.

CD- I think you're good but it really depends on how Mullen handles personnel. Hard to see us giving up many points so the offense would have to be really slow and/or making big mistakes with turnovers, etc.

I think Mullen tends to not run up the score outside of bowl games. I think we still cover 24, but I don't like to bet on DNA do ring decently large lines.

I'm expecting a final score of roughly 40-13

I gave a USM fan that works for me 10 points back in the Spring. You should have seen his face when I told him the line was 28.5 when it finally came out.

well, it's $25 so you're safe no matter what. You'll have that covered before half, easy. I wish I could bet with some of your friends, ha.

I don't think Chris Jones is going to be playing on his heals. He will be in the backfield every play he's in the game. JRob is going to have a field day on the ground. I don't even think we throw the ball 20 times against them.

Ha, yea I was being sarcastic about being "safe".

He thinks that USM will give us fits because they did years ago. Terrible logic. Seems to think that ******* and their WR corp will give our defense fits. I laughed in his face and told him I don't take checks.

ETA: Haha, the board won't let you post "Mullen" with a "s" at the end....but isn't that the way the USM QB's name is spelled? M U L L E N S

I think you are fine. I'd say 49 or 56 to 7 but it really depends on how bad Mullen wants to stomp them.

Is the team we are putting on the field better than the team we fielded for the Rice game? I don't think we will be any worse. Is the USM team being fielded better than the team Rice Fielded? I think they will be way worse. I think you are in good shape.

50ish to 14...

Depending on when we pull Dak, pull Damian, and go ground and pound only... I don't think they will move the ball too terribly well even on the scout team. Mullen(s) does seem to be improved and have a decent receiving corps -- if he has any time to throw.

There are still a lot of people in our own state that see us as we were several years ago and don't realize the amount of talent and depth we're building. That will change this year.

There's a small part of me who remembers the USM who beat State 6 years in a row in the late 1970's-early 1980's. If we were to play this game in the Croom era, we'd lose easily. The only thing that gives me comfort is that Dan Mullen does NOT lose to teams with less talent than he has.

I was at a birthday get-together this evening and was talking with another State fan. His wife, who was standing nearby, is a USM fan and asked me how I felt about the game. I told her I expected State to win. She said that State always used to say they would beat the hell out of USM, but then USM beat us. It took all I had not to burst out laughing. I leaned in next to the State fan I'd been chatting with and said:"They didn't used to be 1-23 either."
