MSU Yesterday (Posted on 8/10/14 at 5:31 pm)

This is from a colleague of mine that is 1. an Alabama fan, and 2. a high school official that was part of the crew that officiated yesterday's first scrimmage.

First, the stadium looks like a completely different place. If someone had been there 10 years ago and didn't know there was improvements, they would not believe they were in Starkville. Its first class. You no longer have a high school joke of a stadium.

Second, Dak Prescott is legit. Might be the best QB in the SEC this year. He finally has some receivers. #4 is all-SEC material.

Finally, Its always hard to judge teams in scrimmages, but the defense is FAST. Like NFL fast. They look like Alabama on defense. Not as deep, but really impressive in person.

Y'all are going to have a good year. Glad our game is in Tuscaloosa.

In the future can we get some MSU OFFICIALS FOR OUR CLOSED SCRIMMAGES!!! What good is closing practice and scrimmages if you have Bama loyals running around and talking to random Joe. Wtf?!?!?!?

They are calling an intersquad scrimmage a week into practice. No gameplanning has taken place yet and I much imagine the team is working on fundamentals and basics at this point. Plus, I've officiated on several levels and any official worth their salt is not going to pay enough attention to give anyone anything of substance... he's a high school official working a scrimmage.

And the winner goes to the wooly mammoth. I'm totally stealing it in the future.

I thought the same thing... But the info passed along isnt very sensitive. If he came with "MSU ran a lot of hurry up read option plays" then we'd have an issue.

Hah. I just thought it was the most hilarious thing, that when I opened this thread, I saw Cadaver's and 61's wool pics. I wanted to throw one in to compliment theirs.

Most teams are far more sensitive about gameplanning than they are specific plays (I know for a fact Mullen is). I'm sure any scrimmage deeper into the practice season will be carefully planned as to who they let in and who they don't... but for now, they are concentrating on learning the playbook and hammering down fundamentals.
